News from the world’s largest tyre industry show, Reifen 2014, at Messe Essen, Germany
Interstate Tires, the premium budget tyre manufacturer has been an exhibitor at the Reifen show since 1996. At this year’s exhibition, Interstate will showcase its new, expanded range of products. With a product portfolio of more than 300 sizes of summer tyres and 280 unique sizes of winter, Interstate is now a true full line supplier.
Kraiburg Austria reports that it will be both celebrating five decades of history as well as present its latest products when it appears at the 2014 Reifen exhibition in Essen, Germany. Situated in the company’s now familiar location in the Galeria, Kraiburg will be showing a new and slightly larger stand.
One of the more than 600 exhibitors expected to be present at this year’s Reifen show in Germany is Gebhardt Logistic Solutions GmbH. The company’s Tires & Wheels business unit has offered the industry tailor-made solutions for more than 20 years now and says its presence in Essen forms part of a drive to expand its international activities.

Heuver Tyrewholesale has announced it will once again attend the Reifen trade show, which takes place in Essen, Germany this May. The wholesaler says its trade fair schedule features a lot of time for maintaining and expanding customer relations, while also highlighting the latest products by its important and exclusive (in eight markets) brand Aeolus. In terms of wheel rims, Heuver will give specific attention to the Athlete brand. It will also focus on the latest agricultural tyres by LingLong, which Heuver distributes in a number of markets. Reifen show organiser Messe Essen reports that this year a fourth category is being added to the so-called ‘tyre industry oscars’, the Innovation Awards jointly bestowed by Messe Essen and main sponsor the BRV (Germany’s tyre trade and vulcanisers’ association) alongside the biennial trade exhibition. This new category is Motor Vehicle Service, which joins the existing Technology & Products, Service Concepts & Process Optimisation and Environmental & Resource Conservation awards in 2014. Messe Essen is accepting award recipient nominations until 31 March.
The survey results weren’t quite as close as those for the referendum in Essen, Germany, where a “majority” of 50.4 per cent voted against renovations to the Messe Essen site. Yet there was also no clear majority in the survey held in Germany by our sister publication Neue Reifenzeitung, and only slightly more respondents voted in favour of a tyre exhibition in Cologne as opposed to Essen, where the Reifen show is currently held.
Momo Tires is planning to generate more international interest in 2014, with the news that it is participating in three different trade fairs this year. The first will be the Tyre & Rubber Indonesia, which will take place from 19 – 22 March 2014 at JIExpo Kemayoran Jakarta.
Aeolus has extended its exclusive UK distribution agreement with Kings Road Tyres (KRT) to include its passenger car tyre range. The fast growing tyre manufacturer, noted in European tyre markets mainly for its OTR and commercial vehicle products, has previously announced its intention to exhibit its PCR products on its stand at Reifen 2014, held at Messe Essen on 27-30 May. KRT previously announced its intention to give a then unnamed PCR range its UK market debut in Manchester at October’s Brityrex International exhibition.
Aeolus Co. Ltd. reports that it will be showcasing its entire range of passenger car tyres, bolstered by truck and EM product lines at the forthcoming Reifen show, which will run 27-30 May 2014.
Between 29 May and 1 June 2018, a new exhibition aimed at the international tyre industry will take place in Germany. “The Tire Cologne”, as the show will be called, will be supported by current Reifen show main sponsor the BRV (the German Federal Association of the Tyre Trade and the Vulcanisers’ Skilled Trade), and the plan is to hold the event every two years. Regular Reifen exhibition visitors may already note that the dates for The Tire Cologne coincide with this year’s show week in Essen and, presumably, those planned for future events – a sign that the BRV and Koelnmesse consider the future Cologne trade exhibition the heir apparent to the European tyre show throne.
As reported last week, the main sponsor of the Reifen tyre show, which is held every two years in Germany, will part ways with exhibition organiser Messe Essen after the 2016 show. Trade association and current Reifen ‘ideal sponsor’ the BRV intends to be involved in a new tyre trade fair located in Cologne. A letter sent by Messe Essen on 23 January and signed by management board chairman Oliver P. Kuhrt and director of trade fairs and exhibitions Annegret Appel, addresses the future parting of ways.
