Sentury Tire is launching a new tyre subscription scheme in the USA. The company, which is currently in the process of setting up a new production facility within the country, has launched a service there under the AvanTech name.
Engineering, architecture and construction management firm SSOE Group has been selected to design the new Sentury Tire manufacturing facility and North American headquarters in LaGrange, Georgia.

When Tyrepress.com visited Qingdao Sentury Tire Co., Ltd in China late last year, newly-appointed executive vice-president Rami Helminen shared details about the US factory project he’d been hired to head. He disclosed that “hundreds of millions of US dollars” would be invested in a factory, and that a search for a suitable site was already underway. It appears the tyre maker has decided upon a location in the state of Tennessee.
At the end of October Nokian Tyres changed its operational structure to “strengthen the company’s product and innovation leadership, end-to-end supply operations and sales and distribution management”. The move also follows the departure of one of the firm’s senior executives. According to Nokian, the former head of Passenger car tyre operations, Rami Helminen, has decided to leave the company and “continue his career elsewhere”. Rami Helminen was appointed as Nokian vice president, Car and Van Tyres nine years ago, a role he took on on 1 March 2006.
Nokian has announced a number of changes at senior management level. Vice President, Purchases and Logistics, Mr. Kari-Pekka Laaksonen is appointed Vice President, Sales and Logistics as of 1 February 2006. Vice President, Nokian Car and Van Tyres, Mr. Antero Juopperi is appointed Senior Vice President, Strategy as of 1 March 2006. He is responsible for all Russian business activities, R&D and Corporate Development of the Nokian Tyres Group. Vice President, Finance and Control, Mr. Rami Helminen is appointed Vice President, Car and Van Tyres as of 1 March 2006.
