Sales within the premium and tier 2 segments of Europe’s commercial tyre market have remained level for years, but the tier 3 segment is growing in leaps and bounds. For Prometeon, the company behind the Pirelli commercial tyre brand, this trend represents an opportunity it doesn’t wish to miss out on. It presented its new Anteo brand to potential distributors on 26 March, displaying a launch range of six lines.

A new brand of truck tyres from the company behind the Pirelli commercial range is being launched in Milan this afternoon. At launch the new Anteo line-up will consist of six products.- Pro T, Pro D and Pro T steer, drive and trailer tyres for on-road use, as well as Mover M, Mover S and Mover D for on/off-road applications.
Capacity at the Prometeon Tyre Group plant in İzmit, Turkey will increase by 75 per cent by 2020 in order to accommodate plans to almost double exports from the facility. This project will be funded by a US$115 million investment announced by the company on Tuesday.
Prometeon Tyre Group has signed a tyre supply agreement with the SmartBUS project which is being developed by the Eco – Hev company, a spin-off of the Politecnico di Milano, active in the development of innovative electro mobility systems for the spread of sustainable mobility. The project involves the installation of an innovative fast charging system using a charging station located at the end of the urban line. This energy storage system, being tested on a bus circulating in the city of La Spezia, is based on the Ultracapacitor system developed by Eco – Hev in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano. The system eliminates the need for batteries on board the vehicle, ensuring a considerable reduction in charging times (from 8 hours to 5 minutes).
DRS Logistics has partnered with Pirelli using the company’s latest Triathlon range, designed to maximise performance on UK’s mixed roads. Additionally they use Pirelli’s on-line Fleet Management system, which monitors closely costs and also helps streamline multiple service provider paperwork. This allows DRS to focus less on tyre management and more on looking after its customers.
Following statements from Aeolus suggesting “Aeolus moves production to Egypt and/or Turkey“, Prometeon Tyre Group has announced that the project to transfer the production of tyres in the production plants of Prometeon Tyre Group, “is still under initial assessment by the two groups, as it is part of the broader integration project of the two companies”.
Aeolus Tyre Co., Ltd. has emphasised its continued commitment to European markets. In a statement, the Chinese tyre maker describes its progress with the Aeolus brand within Europe as a “remarkable” achievement and stresses that the “unique position” it has claimed within the market will continue despite the introduction of anti-dumping duties. To facilitate this, some Aeolus tyre production will be relocated outside of China.
The new range of Pirelli agricultural tyres and the latest Pirelli truck products will be on display at the Prometeon Tyre Group stand at next week’s The Tire Cologne. These can be found at Stand C48/D49 in Hall 7.
Prometeon Tyre Group’s recent appointment of Kirkby Tyres as its official wholesale partner for Pirelli truck & bus product is “a landmark in Kirkby’s history as with this agreement, this is Kirkby’s first appointment as a national distributor of a major tier-1 tyre brand”, according to Dave Dorrity, managing director of Kirkby Tyres.

Prometeon Tyre Group UK Ltd (PTG) has appointed Simon Michael as managing director. He will be based at the company’s head office in Burton on Trent. Simon Michael brings 23 years of tyre industry experience in the UK and Middle East into the role.
After “years of extensive testing across Europe”, Prometeon Tyre Group has announced it is linking agricultural tyre distribution specialists Kirkby Tyres in order to bring Pirelli branded agricultural tyres to market. Voted the NTDA Tyre Wholesaler of the year in 2017, Kirkby has over 60 years of experience serving the market from the firm’s UK base in Liverpool. Kirkby will now be Prometeon’s exclusive wholesale partner serving the UK mainland and Ireland for the Pirelli Agricultural, PHP line.
Prometeon Tyre Group UK Ltd has named GB Tyres UK Ltd as Formula brand partner for the UK & Ireland. According to the companies, the Formula truck and bus tyre range “benefits directly from Prometeon’s technological know-how and manufacturing expertise, providing a high quality TBR range that is specifically aimed at a more value orientated market”. Characterised as “a robust and hard working on-off product”, the Formula TBR range is said to provide “performance, long-life and affordability” and is available in key sizes across the UK dominated regional segment.
Prometeon Tyre Group has announced a new organisation structure in order to “strengthen its presence in the different markets in which it operates” and “to continue the integration process with the Aeolus group”.
