Prinx Chengshan’s flagship tyre brand has entered the European market in style at a lavish event in Milan, Italy. Hosting tyre distributors and dealers from all around Europe the brand chose the European fashion capital as its launchpad to signify its bullish expectations for the new range, which arrives offering fitments for a comprehensive range of applications, premiumised technologies, and a European marketing strategy openly setting mid-range-plus targets from the off. During a day of driving workshops at Alfa Romeo’s historic La Pista circuit, Tyres & Accessories was able to trial two Prinx tyres fitted to Tesla Models 3 and Y, and Mercedes AMG A Class hatchback and SUV models: the Xnex Sport EV UHP tyre designed for electric vehicle compatibility, and the Quattura 4S all-season tyre. T&A also spoke to several representatives from the brand’s European team about its new products and aspiration to make its mark on the European tyre segment. Look out for full coverage from the event on Tyrepress and in Tyres & Accessories magazine.
Prinx Chengshan will celebrate the European launch of its new flagship tyre brand Prinx next week in Milan. The brand’s tyres will be available for guests to try at La Pista, an historic racetrack located on the former grounds of Alfa Romeo. The three-day event will give delegates insights into Prinx’s brand strategy and market ambitions. Europe CEO Thomas Wohlgemuth is looking forward to the event and promises an entrance that will set out the manufacturer’s stall for its developing European business. “The entire setting is super. Prinx is a force to be reckoned with in the future, true to our brand claim ‘Leave a mark’”.
In addition to two tyres specifically designed for electric vehicles, the first products to arrive in the new Prinx range for Europe include a tyre for the increasingly popular all-season segment. Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe says Prinx Quattura 4S is a “high-performance all-season tyre for petrol and diesel vehicles” that has “earned its (3PMSF) snowflake.” It therefore “delivers excellent safety performance even in difficult weather conditions.”
Prinx is the new flagship brand of Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe and following their public debut at The Tire Cologne in 2022, the market launch of the first Prinx products is imminent. Wholesalers can now order the XNEX Sport and XLAB Comfort, which together are obtainable in a range that covers 45 sizes and 69 articles.
Targeting Generation Z and Millennial drivers, Prinx Chengshan has officially launched its flagship Prinx brand in European markets. The range was specifically developed for our region and includes a launch line-up of six tyre models that, according to the manufacturer, “cover all requirement types in the passenger car and SUV segment” and are suitable for both ICE and electric vehicles. Prinx tyres are available for wholesale from spring 2023.
During last year’s The Tire Cologne show, Prinx Chengshan shared plans to bring its Prinx brand to Europe as a flagship range. It is now doing so, accompanied by a new site for the region: prinxtire.eu.
Prinx Chengshan Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries report selling 9.394 million tyres during the six months to 30 June 2022, a year-on-year increase of 3.3 per cent. From this total, 3.333 million were all-steel radial tyres and 5.919 million semi-steel radials. Cross-ply tyres accounted for some 142,000 pieces.
Prinx Chengshan and leading Chinese e-commerce firm JD.com have reached a strategic cooperation agreement. The deal will see JD.com’s automotive department distribute Prinx brand electric vehicle tyres, a new product launched by Prinx Chengshan in 2022, amongst other things.
When Prinx Chengshan presented its flagship Prinx tyre brand at The Tire Cologne in May, talk was of its introduction in European markets later in 2022. The tyre maker also displayed a pair of Prinx tyres scheduled for launch in China ahead of the brand’s arrival here. These tyres have now hit the market in the People’s Republic and signal the brand’s repositioning as a range “born for the electric age.” Prinx Chengshan will show them off the China International Tire & Wheel Fair in Qingdao this week.
Prinx Chengshan is rolling out a new range of European market truck tyres under the Austone and Fortune brand names, and its efforts recently gained a boost when TÜV SÜD awarded the DR606 drive axle pattern its test mark. The tyre maker officially received this distinction during The Tire Cologne, when the head of the TÜV SÜD tyre testing team presented Prinx Chengshan its certification.
The difficulties that tyre makers are facing at present were reflected in Prinx Chengshan Holdings Limited’s financial results for 2021. Although company revenue increased 20 per cent year-on-year, a “significant increase in raw material prices and ocean freight rates” dragged gross profit down by approximately 24.7 per cent.
Prinx Chengshan relocated its European operations to Germany in 2019, and the Darmstadt-based Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe GmbH team has now been reinforced by the arrival of Sybille Schümann-Huth as senior marketing & communications manager. She reports directly to managing director Thomas Wohlgemuth.
TBC Brands, a North American tyre distributor, has introduced a range of Prinx Tires-branded medium radial truck tyres to the US market.
Prinx Chengshan produced its first car tyre at its new plant in Thailand on Saturday. The start of PCR tyre production at the Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd. facility follows the start of TBR tyre production on 25 March.
