British GT title sponsor and tyre supplier Avon will fit its rubber to two teams’ Bentley Continental GT3s as the championship returns at Cheshire’s Oulton Park over Easter bank holiday. More than 30 cars will take to the capacity grid for the season opener, with Bentley’s return to full-time motor racing a highlight. Falken has signed Swiss driver Alexandre Imperatori to compete alongside Wolf Henzler, Martin Ragginger and Peter Dumbreck in its 2014 Porsche GT3 team. Falken will compete in various VLN rounds and the Nürburgring 24-hour race.

As the technical partner of Porsche’s endurance racing programme, Michelin played its part in the development of the new Porsche 919 Hybrid by designing specially-adapted tyres for the LMP1 class prototype. In compliance with the 2014 sporting regulations for the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) and Le Mans, tyres are size 31/71-18 on both the front and the rear. Developed on a simulator for all of the firm’s LMP1 partners, the Michelin tyres on the Porsche 919 Hybrid were refined during testing sessions conducted jointly between the two firms’ technical teams.
Michelin will provide three tyre lines as original equipment on Porsche’s new Macan SUV. Most notably, the French tyre manufacturer’s new Latitude Sport 3 will make its debut on the SUV, while the Latitude Alpin 2 will equip the Macan with a winter fitment and the Latitude Tour HP all-season tyre will be used for the SUV’s American release, in addition to some other specific regions. The Sport 3 and Tour HP are available in three size specifications, while the Alpin 2 will be supplied in one size specification.
Toyo’s Proxes R888, the Japanese manufacturer’s road-legal competition tyre, has been involved in a wide variety of series this year, showing its versatility and targeting fitments suited to the brand’s strategic placement.
Team Falken completed the ALMS season-ending Petit Le Mans on a high note, taking first place in the GT class. Falken’s Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, prepared by team manager Derrick Walker, was driven by Porsche Works and Falken team driver Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers were again joined by co-driver Nick Tandy, who previously ran with the duo at Sebring.

Mak says it has put in plenty of its heritage and experience at the top of the wheel market into the latest multispoke design – an elegant twist on the classic ‘Y’ spoke genre. Each pair of spokes curves into the factory-styled stud bowls, balancing concavity with a lengthened spoke design to create an impression of strength, lightness and size.

Toyo Tires has released four new sizes in its Proxes R888 range, aimed specifically at 19-inch staggered wheel fitments on a range of Porsche models. The new sizes are 325/30ZR19, 345/30ZR19, 245/35ZR19 and 265/35ZR19 meaning that for the first time, owners with these tyre requirements will be able to opt for the race-proven grip of the Proxes R888.
