ATSE Names Cumbrian Mum as Porsche Cayenne Winner

Cumbrian mother Carol Adams picked up the keys to her gleaming new Porsche Cayenne courtesy of ATS Euromaster and declared: “It’s too good to be true!” ATS Euromaster and Michelin presented the dream Porsche to 46-year-old Carol Adams as a prize to encourage customers to take part in a major safety drive. Free to enter, drivers who called into participating ATS Euromaster service centres were encouraged to have their cars inspected for the winter ahead by technicians trained to undertake ATS Euromaster’s free 10-point vehicle check.

Pippa Rallies Round!

This year’s Monte Carlo Rally was certainly an occasion to remember for Pippa Inglis, who works for Vredestein UK. A keen rallying fan, Pippa and Belgian driver Pat Lambert took part in the event, driving a Porsche 356 SC, shod with Vredestein tyres, naturally. Not only did the duo complete the event, but they finished in an impressive 23rd place and, as the highest-placed female team, were awarded the Coupe des Dames (Ladies’ Cup).

According to the company, the new line cuts customer’s costs for high-end vehicle wheels by up to 75 per cent without sacrificing quality, performance or style.

Dunlop Race Academy 2

The final three contestants of the Dunlop Race Academy 2 will go head to head at Silverstone on 24th August for the chance to compete in the Dunlop Driver’s Cup; the final round in the highly competitive Ginetta Championship where they will share the track with experienced racers.

Alec Berry from County Durham, Simon Shaw from Warrington and Luke Debono-Wilson from Essex, who will represent the North East, North West and South East were chosen from over 8,000 entrants. Seven regional winners competed at Donington race track to make this final three and were scored by the Dunlop Race Academy judges as they completed a full day of driver coaching and evaluation, fitness and media tests on the Donington Grand Prix circuit.

New Dansk Porche Catalogue

Euro Car Parts has released its new Porsche catalogue for 2005/06 packed with high performance exhaust systems and accessories from Original Equipment Manufacturer Dansk.

Dansk manufacture for the whole Porsche range, including the 356, 912, 914, 911, 964, 993, 996, 924, Boxster and Cayenne models. According to Euro Car Parts, the famous Dansk engineering produces the distinctive Porsche sound that owners demand.

Dunlop Signs Three-Year Motorsport Deal

Dunlop Motorsport has confirmed that is has signed a deal with EERC (European Endurance Racing Club). The agreement will see the manufacturer act as sole tyre supplier to the Britcar and Production S1 series including the Willhire 5 HR and Silverstone 24 hour events until 2008. In addition the Birmingham based Motorsport operation is committing to support the championship with team incentives and marketing activities. Dunlop is the sole tyre supplier and has been involved with the championship since its inception.

Toyo Announces Technical Partner Agreements with European Manufacturers

Toyo Tire & Rubber has formed technical partner agreements with Breyton, BMW’s tuner, Kleeman, Mercedes Benz’s tuner, and Sportec, Porsche’s tuner. According to the company, the agreements represent a part of Toyo Tire’s efforts to collaborate with leading European tuners. Toyo Tire expects that the partnerships with these three European tuners will be mutually beneficial in terms of technology information exchanges and increased brand exposure gained by promoting their brands with each other at trade shows and advertising activities.

European Car Registrations

The European car market rose 1.5 per cent in April according to POLK. Among the different OEMs BMW registrations were up 22 per cent and Porsche 26 per cent.

Figures were down 1.1 per cent for VW and 0.1 per cent for Renault. Mercedes brand sales were up 2.5 per cent. On the weak side: Peugeot was down 4.7 per cent and Fiat again very weak, was down 15 per cent. Overall, April was a good month for the premium brands, volume brands remained sluggish.

Brits Clinch Porsche Michelin Supercup

British driver Richard Westbrook clinched victory for the Lechner Racing School Team at the season’s opening round of the Porsche Michelin Supercup in Bahrain.

According to race commentary Westbrook started the 12-lap race from pole position and though he lost the sprint to the first corner against Christian Menzel of Germany he regained the lead in the seventh lap.

Westbrook is only the second British driver since Kelvin Burt in 1994 at Silverstone to win a Porsche Michelin Supercup race.

Porsche Michelin Supercup to Compete in Bahrain

For the first time the Porsche Michelin Supercup will compete on Arabian soil, when it takes place in Bahrain from 1 to 3 April. The extra racing weekend, where no points for this year’s championship are awarded, came as an express wish from the Royal Palace as well as from the race organizer, the local Al-Bawaba news source reported. With 400 hp, a sequential six-speed gearbox and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), as well as sophisticated race aerodynamics, this GT3 Cup is the most powerful and at the same time the most challenging racing sportscar in the history of the Porsche Michelin Supercup, the report added.

Aston Martin DB9 to Run on Potenzas

Following the release of the Aston Martin DB9, Bridgestone has announced that the new car will be fitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tyres as original equipment. Like other tyres in the Potenza family the RE050 utilises a racing car nose-shaped tread pattern, which Bridgestone claims reduces the possibility hydroplaning. With an outer pattern featuring large blocks, the RE050 is also designed to improve handling and road holding, while its larger contact area has been manufactured to improve cornering performance.

Powered by a 450 bhp six-litre V12 engine, the DB9 will replace the DB7, Aston Martin most successful car. Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tyres are fitted to a range of supercars including the Ferrari Enzo and F430, Porsche 911, Mercedes SL55 AMG. The Aston Martin DB9 will run on 235/40 ZR19 (front) and 275/35 ZR19 (rear) RE050s.

Dunlop’s Race Academy Winner

After three months of searching and 7000 applicants, Dunlop has finally found a Race Academy winner following the final stage at Silverstone on Tuesday.

Derby-based Andrew Walker won the title after the final three contestants took part in the track ‘shoot-out’ at Silverstone which included a media assessment, drives in the Porsche and Ginetta race car as well as the ARDS assessment and exam that was required to get the race license to compete at Brands Hatch.

The national search was launched at the Autosport Show in January with the intention of discovering a budding Jenson Button or Damon Hill and seven regional finalists were chosen to attend the Dunlop Race Academy.

After completing a fitness test, and a panel interview, featuring representatives from Dunlop, Ginetta and one of Britain’s top GT drivers, Calum Lockie, the drivers had to undergo a driving assessment.

Mr Walker will now take part in the Dunlop Drivers cup at Brands Hatch on 2-3 October.

James Bailey, Dunlop said: “We developed the Race Academy because Dunlop has been part of motorsport for over 100 years in the UK and felt that it was a good opportunity to put something back. We had a great response. 60,000 people looked at the application with around 7,000 entering the on-line test of motorsport and driving knowledge, so it’s proved a popular formula and we hope to repeat it next year.”

Porsche to reach record earnings

Order intake and volumes of the current Porsche 911 versions have developed far better than the company expected. The company highlights the strong mix and the positive impact on margins, also Cayenne volumes are running strong. New 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S 911 will come to the market mid July at the same time. Porsche is on track to reach record earnings this year, and analysts are confident to see another strong increase in earnings next year.

Porsche Sets 911 Launch Date

Start saving up now: Porsche has announced that its new 911 series Carrera and Carrera S sports cars will be launched in mainland Europe on July 17 and in the UK and US markets in early September. Pretax prices in Germany will be 64,700 Euro and 73,300 Euro respectively.
