LKQ Academy has partnered with battery manufacturer Varta to launch a new course on servicing hybrid, pure electric and hydrogen low voltage batteries. The first set of courses launched on 22 January 22nd.
While the fifth-generation Toyota Prius will not be sold in Europe, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) edition will be launched in the market in spring 2023, rolling on Yokohama’s BluEarth-GT AE51 and BluEarth-FE AE30 tyres, like the conventional version. The news continues a long-term supply arrangement between the Japanese firms for the Prius range.
It isn’t coming to the UK – or Australia and New Zealand, for that matter – but many other markets are being introduced to the latest generation Toyota Prius this month. In Europe, the fifth-generation car will be exclusively available as a plug-in hybrid, and Toyota will launch this model in spring. Prius will be available from the factory on Yokohama tyres.
This month, Mazda Motor UK is debuting its first plug-in hybrid, the “crafted in Japan” Mazda CX-60 crossover. UK customers will receive their CX-60 with Bridgestone or Yokohama tyres as standard. Depending on specification, Mazda will equip the SUV with either the Yokohama Advan V61 in size 235/60R18 103V or Bridgestone Alenza 001 in 235/50 R20 100W.
The future is electric and the automotive market is rapidly moving in such a voltaic direction. But the transition is far from complete and the switch to autonomous vehicles is even further off. In the interim we all have to be aware of some of the unexpected consequences that the introduction of new technologies brings. The two clearest examples are range anxiety and ADAS concerns.
