Stuart Jackson has been re-elected as the chairman of not-for-profit road safety campaign group TyreSafe. He enters his third term as the organisation’s head since 2010. “I’m honoured to have been re-elected by my colleagues to such a fantastic and worthwhile position,” comments Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe.
Leading wheelmaker Uniwheels Group reports that it managed to both increase revenues 5.8 per cent and stabilise the company’s overall business in full-year 2013 results published today (24 March 2014). According to the company, the business’s growth came largely thanks to the “very positive” development of the firm’s Automotive Division, which focuses on supplying the OEM business and grew 12 per cent in 2013. In addition, the successful implementation of cost-cutting measures in the administration of the business is also said to have had a positive impact.
Pirelli & C. SpA has signed an agreement with Bekaert to sell 100 per cent of its steel cord activities to the Belgium-based steel wire company for an enterprise value of €255 million. At the same time, the two firms have entered into a long-term agreement for Bekaert to supply Pirelli with tyre cord. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second half of the year.
Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) has appointed Kim Blissett to the role of business and marketing coordinator, with a brief to raise the profile of the company’s key industry campaigns with customers. Reporting to managing director John Ellis, MWSD says she will be tasked with keeping truck and trailer operators abreast of the wheel safety activity in the UK and Europe, as well as promoting the company’s steel wheel Chevron branding.

Sailun’s Vietnam factory, its first manufacturing facility outside China, is now fully online having opened officially opened on 30 November. The factory is currently expected to supply 7.8 million tyres annually to the Middle East, South East Asia and South America, employing 850 people.

Giti Tire has promoted Matthew Mardle to its senior management team, taking up the newly created position of European supply chain manager. Ho-Youl Pae has been announced as the new Hankook chief operating officer in Europe, following former COO, Jin-Wook Choi’s move to a consultancy role within the manufacturer’s global headquarters. Pae has been promoted from his previous role in the company as marketing & sales executive. Pae will also take on the position of senior vice president and member of the board of Hankook Tire.
