Pelmar Engineering has announced that it is to hold its annual conference in Hamburg, Germany this year. The company is holding its conference alongside Tire Technology Expo 2009. According to a statement on the matter, the 2009 conference is the first time that the event will be held outside of Israel. “The main reasons are the vast international expansion and the increased sales and engineering contracts signed in Europe,” the statement explained.
Pelmar Engineering has appointed a new Managing Director for Pelmar LLC, USA; Mr. Armond Boyes. Mr. Boyes has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Akron and has worked for Goodyear for over 22 years where he eventually became the General Manager of Retreading, responsible for the complete operation in North America. Mr. Boyes intends to expand & strengthen Pelmar’s position in the Northern and Southern American markets, as well as use his extensive experience to promote retreading activities. “It is a great pleasure to be a part of the Pelmar team and I hope to be able to make a difference” he said.
Pelmar Engineering, the Israel – based dealers in used, reconditioned and new tyre machinery, have recently bought the entire equipment released by Goodyear Wolverhampton as a result of closure of about 50 per cent of their plant. The equipment is now being dismantled and removed; part of it directly to customers and part to Pelmar’s warehouse in Manchester. It includes mainly rubber compounding and processing equipment, such as complete extruder lines, calendering lines, mixing lines and miscellaneous other machinery. Pelmar has seven warehouses in Europe, Israel and U.K., providing machinery, engineering and complete turnkey projects related to the technical rubber and tyre industries worldwide.
Machinery at the Semperit factory in Traiskirchen, Austria, was auctioned off recently, with most of it purchased by Israeli company Pelmar Engineering Ltd.; one of the world’s largest dealers in new and used tyre machinery. The auction raised around $2 million and, among the equipment acquired by Pelmar, were off the road curing presses and tyre building equipment. Traiskirchen will continue to supply the Continental group with custom compounds, rubberised steel cord and rubberised yarns, but tyres are no longer made at the plant.
