BorgWarner Inc. and Eldor Corporation S.p.A. have announced that they have entered into a Share Purchase Agreement under which BorgWarner has agreed to acquire the Electric Hybrid Systems (EHS) business segment of Eldor for €75 million at closing with a potential additional amount due subject to an earnout.
Braking specialist TMD Friction UK has introduced 16 brake pad and disc references to its premium Textar branded product ranges. The new brake pad references cover popular vehicle makes, including Audi, Brabus, Fiat, Genesis, Hyundai, KIA, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche, with new pad reference 2468101 fitting a comprehensive range of Mercedes-Benz cars, and reference 2920006 covering various Mercedes-Benz light commercial vehicles.
Delphi Technologies has added brakes for Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai as part of its European aftermarket range, parts the company describes as first-to-market.
Engineered in the UK, EBC Brakes Racing’s Apollo Balanced Big Brake Kits promise an upgrade in stopping power in the performance braking market. Now the kit is available for the Mk4 (ND) Mazda MX-5 (2015- ). Featuring four-piston front calipers, 330mm fully floating two-piece discs, front and rear Yellowstuff pads, braided lines and all fluid/fixtures required, the complete kits offer a firmer and more responsive brake pedal feel, the company says.
Independent garages are embracing online parts supply in greater numbers as they look to access a wider range of available products from leading brands, according to one online automotive parts distributor. PartsInMotion.co.uk says that garages are “switching on” in greater numbers and accessing high quality parts online from distributors instead of, for example, going to the dealership. Demand for quality braking, clutch, steering and suspension as well as exhaust systems are said to be particularly high.

UK automotive parts distributor, Partbusters, has made a generous donation to the Great Ormond Street Hospital, raising approximately £1,500 for the charity. The figure included £600 from takings from the company’s coffee machine, which was then doubled by Ricky Bassi, director and founder of Partbusters, before other members of the Partbusters team rallied round to raise a fantastic £1500 for the charity.
Recognising the need to invest in the next generation of technicians, Dayco is expanding its training programme to reach out to students still in technical college, with a series of events starting at Engineering Innovation Centre, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire on 26 April. Braking specialist Juratek Ltd has acquired Bradford-based independent distributor Bettaparts Ltd. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Bettaparts will remain at its Bradford site, serving its existing customer base and Juratek has said that there are no plans to distribute its own branded products through the new site as the companies will operate separately.
Excel Automotive Group (EAG) has implemented MAM’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) to improve efficiency and accuracy in its warehouse logistics. The WMS optimises the flow of products through the EAG warehouse in Leeds, managing all activities from goods receiving and putaway to picking, packing and shipment. It also includes a hand-held PDA and scanner that handles all data input and communicates wirelessly with the main software application, where a dashboard provides an instant snapshot of current activities.
