Giti Tire appoints new marketing manager for southern Europe
Giti Tire has announced the appointment of Lorella Maggiori as marketing manager for Italy and Spain. Formerly of Bridgestone Italy’s marketing department Maggiori will support Corrado Moglia, general manager – southern Europe, and work in partnership with the senior management and marketing teams of each importer across all passenger car, SUV, light truck and truck & bus programmes. Giti says it is currently growing in both countries, seeing both as key European markets.
Pirelli sponsors Princeton professorship
As part of its efforts to promote, sponsor, and support cultural projects in Italy and around the world, Pirelli has established the ‘Pirelli Visiting Professorship in Italian Studies’ for a five-year term at Princeton University’s Department of French and Italian at Princeton University. The professorship’s stated aim is to support the dissemination of the study of Italian history and culture through new media and technology within Italian studies.

Milton Keynes MD embarking on an unprecedented journey
Managing director of Milton Keynes based Just Tyres, Ian Grant has embarked on a journey to bring education and aid to thousands of youngsters in Uganda. Grant hopes to provide a comprehensive education programme that will train adults to teach youngsters basic numeracy and literacy skills in Kampala. Having visited in September, Grant pursued plans to create a partnership between Just Tyres and the Kampala Children’s Centre, which provides clothing, food and housing to disadvantaged children.
Kumho secures Mercedes-Benz G-Class OE
Kumho’s original equipment portfolio with major auto manufacturers has been expanded to include the recently revised Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The Korean tyre manufacturer will supply the new edition of the 4×4 with its Solus KL21 in size 265/60 R18 110H manufactured in the company’s Vietnam plant.
TIA to host tyre marketing webinar
In the USA, the Tire Industry Association (TIA), in partnership with LogMyCalls, will host a webinar on Thursday, October 10, at 12pm (US Eastern time) entitled “The 5 Most Important Marketing and Sales Metrics for Tire Businesses.” In this webinar, presented by McKay Allen, Inbound Marketing Manager at LogMyCalls, tyre dealers will learn about how to measure their marketing efforts, what to track, and how to track it.
AM Bromley and Enaikoon Launch Enaikoon TPMS
AM Bromley has unveiled a new OTR (off the road) Tyre Monitor System that utilises telematics technology to provide cost-savings as well as safety and tyre life improvements. Developed in collaboration with ENAiKOON, the global leader in telematics communications, the new system combines AM Bromley’s Tire Monitor System (TMS) with ENAiKOON’s advanced tracking software to deliver an integrated system that offers real-time, anytime reporting for large off-road vehicles.
Bosch announces US distribution partnership
Bosch Automotive Service Solutions has entered into a US market distribution partnership with Myers Tire Supply. Under the agreement, Myers Tire Supply will carry the Bosch Wheel Service equipment range, including a full line of wheel balancers, tyre changers and brake lathes, through its national distribution network.

BTCC renews Dunlop supply deal
Dunlop has confirmed its reappointment as official tyre supplier by the MSA British Touring Car Championship. This extends the sole-supplier partnership that began in 2003, and continues a relationship between Dunlop and the BTCC that can be traced back to the championship’s creation in 1958.
Pirelli continuing as GP2 and GP3 tyre supplier
Pirelli’s tyre supply contract for the GP2 and GP3 series has been renewed. The Italian firm has supplied the GP3 series since its inception in 2010 and took on GP2 supply the following year. Comments made by the organiser upon announcing this multi-year renewal for the two Formula One feeder categories – that his philosophy has always been to use the same tyre supplier as F1 – also indicates an official deal for the top-level championship may be imminent.
5 of top 7 use Maxxis Trepador tyre at King of the Valleys
Five of the top seven ranked competitors at the second staging of the King of the Valleys endurance event used Maxxis’ M8060 Trepador competition tyre. Maxxis UK managing director Derek McMartin says the partnership Maxxis has established with the King of the Valleys is “hugely beneficial”.
Cooper boosts Rally Day presence, with new off-road experience
Cooper Tire Europe has announced a new feature to its presence at the 2013 Rally Day event. The company’s 4×4 zone will offer visitors the chance to ride in one of DriveTech’s 4×4 machines, which swaps speed for sheer inclines and drops, mud, water and more as the Cooper rubber is put through its paces in a demanding off-road course.
