Tire Group International and Alliance Tire Group have announced a distribution agreement that gives TGI exclusive distribution rights for Galaxy-brand tyres in Latin America and the Caribbean, with exception of Colombia and Ecuador. The distributor will offer Galaxy’s industrial, agricultural and off-the-road tyre lines as both direct factory shipments and fill-in from its distribution centre in Miami, Florida.
Titan International is proposing an all-share offer for Titan Europe valued at more than £115 million. The deal amounts to one Titan International common share per 11 Titan Europe ordinary shares. According to the convoluted language of the official statement disclosing the proposed offer, Titan International is after not less than 51 per cent of Titan Europe shares and 51 per cent of its voting rights. The company already holds 21.67 per cent.
Tyre and tube manufacturer Govind Rubber Limited has announced an 8.5 billion rupee (£97 million) expansion plan for its. GRL is setting up a Greenfield project in Gujurat, near Dahej, taking up most of the capital investment (approximately 7.5 billion rupees/£86 million). Chairman and managing director Vinod Poddar said “The plant will have a production capacity of 225 tonnes per day,”

Retreaded earthmover (EM) tyres represent the most appropriate response to the demands of construction sites, mines, quarries and ports in terms of efficiency and cost effectiveness. Marangoni has introduced a number of new products to its range of large-sized and earthmover orientated tyres. These new products, available in sizes 27.00×49, 31/80×49 and 31/90×49, have reportedly been developed with the MRLS Recaflex and MDT Recaflex profiles. In addition these tyres now have a deeper tread pattern than the previous models, with the depth increased from 70 to 75 mm. This feature, combined with a larger footprint and a low hysteresis compound, is designed to offer longer tread life without negatively affecting casing life.
The earthmover/OTR tyre market sits very comfortably with RH Claydon Ltd, according to one of the business’ directors, John Parker. The odd ownership dance between Titan International and Titan Europe has kicked up again, with new reports that the US company has made an offer for some or all of the shares in the European operation.
In an official statement from the company, the board of Titan Europe acknowledged recent press speculation to this effect and confirmed that it has received an approach from Titan International Inc, which “may or may not lead to an offer being made for the whole of the issued share capital of the company.
Titan International, Inc. has signed an agreement to purchase a majority ownership interest in Planet Corporation Group of Companies (“Planet”) in an all-cash transaction. Planet includes National Tyres, Acme Wheel, Resource Tyre and Choice Tyres Wholesalers and is based in Perth, Australia. The purchase price and revenue information will be released upon closing which is expected to be within 10 days.
Half a year after its public unveiling at Intermat 2012, Michelin’s all-new XADN+ articulated dump truck tyre has been launched. The tyre is initially available in the popular size 29.5R25 and is suitable for groundwork, infrastructure construction, quarry and mine applications. The XADN+ range will replace the current XADN line-up, which was launched in 1996.
At Reifen 2012, the Alliance Tire Group presented a new off-road tyre it says represents an innovative approach to dual-tyre configuration for excavators. Called the 528 Dual Master, the new product solves the problem of stones becoming embedded between double tyres. It does this through the use of a unique sidewall construction that enables close contact between the two tyres. “There is normally a rubber spacer between the tyres, but stones nevertheless get between the tyres and cause punctures,” explained ATG marketing communications manager Tal Rappoport to Tyres & Accessories. “The 528 Dual Master is the first tyre model for excavators that doesn’t require this spacer, and stones therefore can’t get penetrate this space.
