Orion Engineered Carbons show new fuel efficient and durable carbons

In early October, Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. announced that the company’s novel surface-modified Carbon Blacks for rubber applications will be presented at the 196th Technical Meeting of the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society in Cleveland, Ohio (which was held on 9 October 2019). The meeting is part of the International Elastomer Conference (IEC), which provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, observations, regulatory reforms and emerging scientific technologies.

Orion names Lorin Crenshaw as CFO

Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. has appointed Lorin Crenshaw as group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective 4 November 2019. Crenshaw will report to Orion CEO Corning Painter and will serve on the company’s executive leadership team.

Orion Engineered Carbons to close French carbon black factory

On 3 June Orion Engineered Carbons S.A., the carbon black manufacturer, said the management of its company in France (Orion Engineered Carbons SAS) had begun consultations with the Works Council at its Ambes, France facility in order to implement a restructuring and “down staffing” with “a potential cessation of production at the site by the end of 2016”. The French Orion plant employs approximately 40 people.

Qingdao carbon black JV now wholly Orion-owned

Carbon black supplier Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. shares that its acquisition of the remaining 64 per cent share in the Qingdao Evonik Chemical Co. Ltd. (QECC) carbon black business in Qingdao, China has now been completed.

Orion names Rubber Carbon Black SVP

On 1 September, Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. announced the appointment of Erik Thiry as senior vice president, Rubber Carbon Black, effective immediately. Thiry has been the senior vice president, Business Development and a member of the executive management team since May 2012.
