The number of Audi models delivered with factory-fitted Hankook tyres is set to increase once the new generation Audi A4 and A4 Avant arrives in the showrooms. Hankook Tire reports that the new A4 will receive several sizes of its flagship Ventus S1 evo² tyre: Cars shipped on 17-inch rims will be fitted with a 225/50R17Y tyre (including an XL extra load version), while larger-rimmed A4s will receive the 245/40R18Y (XL) and 245/35R19Y (XL). The original equipment version of the Ventus S1 evo² was developed at Hankook Tire’s European Technology Centre (ETC) in Germany, where Hankook coordinates tyre development for Audi AG vehicles, and is manufactured at Hankook’s factory in Hungary.
Daimler AG has chosen the Yokohama Advan Sport V105 as an original equipment tyre on the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Models fitted with 18 and 19-inch wheels will be able to roll out of the factory on the Yokohama tyre, as two sizes – 235/60R18 103V and 235/55R19 101V – have been homologated. As is the case with all Yokohama tyres mounted as OE on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the presence of the letters ‘MO’ on the Advan Sport V105’s sidewall indicate Daimler’s official approval of the tyre.

The Scorpion ATR is the manufacturer’s solution for all-terrain usage in performance SUVs.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries has announced it will deliver Falken Ziex ZE914 Ecorun tyres as an original equipment fitment for the Chrysler 200. The supply deal covers vehicles manufactured in the USA for export markets. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will receive the Ziex ZE914 in size 215/55R17 94.
Yokohama Rubber has confirmed news reported in March that its Advan Sport V105 tyre will be fitted as original equipment on the latest generation Mazda MX-5 in size 195/50R16 84V. Yokohama tyres have been original equipment on the Mazda MX-5 since the model’s launch, and Yokohama Rubber says adoption of the Advan Sport V105 for the new model “continues this proud history.”
The Bridgestone Potenza S001 will be supplied as an original equipment tyre on two new MX-5 models within the North American market. The two higher-spec versions of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Club and Grand Touring, will be fitted with the Potenza S001 in size 205/45R17.
DAF has become the first truck manufacturer to approve Goodyear’s brand new Ultra Grip Max winter tyres as a factory-fitted option. Operators ordering new DAF trucks built from week 41 onwards and destined for service in severe winter conditions can now specify Ultra Grip Max S steer axle tyres and Ultra Grip Max D drive axle tyres in sizes 315/70R22.5 and 315/80R22.5.
Toyota has chosen Goodyear’s Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure as original equipment tyre on the Tacoma TRD Off-Road, a pick-up sold throughout the Americas. The tyre will be fitted in size P265/70R16.
Until this year, Continental only produced run-flat tyres at its Aachen and Korbach factories in Germany. However a couple of years ago the company saw a need to expand production of original equipment run-flats in response to growing demand from vehicle manufacturers, and at the end of 2013 the decision was taken to equip the Continental Matador Rubber factory in Púchov, Slovakia to make self-supporting run-flat, or SSR tyres.
Belarus-based tyre maker Belshina JSC says its goal of producing 63-inch tyres for mining trucks should be realised by the end of next year. The company reports that modernisation of the milling facility at its Babruysk plant is currently taking place, and according to the project’s schedule further equipment for upgrading the plant will begin arriving in January 2016. A group of Belshina specialists will also complete tyre building training at a location within Europe in the coming months and will assemble prototype tyres ahead of the first Belshina 63-inch OTR tyres leaving the factory some time in 2016.
Bridgestone says it sold more original equipment truck and bus radials during June than at any other time during the last seven years. The company hasn’t released specific sales volume information, however it reports that “thousands” of Bridgestone-brand original equipment tyres were sold during the month. Sales have been driven upwards by increasing requests from fleets, adds Bridgestone.
A specifically-tuned version of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport will be fitted as original equipment on the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. Michelin says its engineers worked closely with the Cadillac research and development team to produce the tuned tyre and held joint test sessions with the third-generation CTS-V at Michelin’s Laurens proving grounds in South Carolina, General Motors’ Milford Road Course in Michelin, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Road Atlanta and the Virginia International Raceway. The CTS-V will be equipped with size 265/35ZR19 Pilot Super Sport tyres on the front and 295/30ZR19 on the rear.
The Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP has been approved as the original equipment tyre for the new Yamaha YZF-R1. The 200 horsepower, 998cc sport bike was developed using YZR-M1 MotoGP technology and is equipped with the Diablo Supercorsa SP in size 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 190/55 ZR17 on the rear wheel.
Four Hankook tyre patterns will be shipped to Ford in North America as original equipment fitments for the new 2016 F-650 and F-750 medium duty trucks. The tyre maker will supply its AH11 and DH07 patterns in sizes 245/70R19.5 and 265/70R19.5, while the AH22 and DH15 will be available in size 275/80R22.5.
