Dunlop’s RoadSmart III has been homologated for the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure and the 1190 Adventure, reports Goodyear Dunlop. The Austrian manufacturer will fit the two bikes with size 120/70 ZR19 and 170/60 ZR17 tyres. According to the tyre maker, the previous-generation RoadSmart II was also used on the KTM adventure bikes and “worked flawlessly” with them.
Bridgestone has been selected as an original equipment tyre supplier to the latest generation BMW 7 Series. The tyre maker’s Bridgestone Australia subsidiary reports that the Potenza S001 run-flat will be fitted as standard equipment on the 730d, 740i and 740Li in size 245/45R19, with an optional size 275/40R19 rear axle fitment available. For the 750i and 750Li, staggered sizing in 245/40R20 and 275/35R20 is provided.

Beginning in July 2016, Michelin will be the sole source tyre supplier for the main landing gear on the Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range), 777-200LR (Long Range) and the 777 Cargo final assembly line. Stewart Trailers has specified Michelin’s new CargoXBib Heavy Duty trailer tyres as original equipment on its latest Road King XV 20 26 S trailer. The agricultural trailer manufacturer chose the 560/60 R 22.5 fitment as an option for its new trailer. The new tyre replaces the original CargoXBib, and has been designed to increase longevity on the road and boost self-cleaning properties. Its high load capacity is almost 8,300kg per tyre, with a durable casing structure.
The latest version of the Volvo XC90 was launched last June, and Pirelli now reports that it is supplying tyres for original equipment fitment on the SUV. The Pirelli Scorpion Verde has been homologated for OE supply in sizes 275/40 R21 107 Y XL (front axle) and 235/55 R19 105 V XL (rear axle).
In 1977, Pirelli first launched its first Phantom motorcycle tyre. Subsequent redesigns using the latest technologies have ensured the Phantom name survives to this day, and now the Phantom Sportscomp is being paired up with another classic that began life in another era – the Triumph Bonneville. The latest-generation Phantom Sportscomp has been selected as an original equipment for the Bonneville T120, Bonneville T120 Black and Street Twin.
Tesla Motors has selected the Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico as an original equipment tyre for its new SUV, the Model X. The M+S marked tyre will be supplied to Tesla in size 265/35ZR22 102W for the front wheels and size 285/35ZR22 106W for the rear.
Michelin has unveiled two new tyres in its fuel-saving X Line Energy range and named Mercedes-Benz as a launch customer after the manufacturer approved the fitments for its Actros heavy truck. The Michelin 385/55 R 22.5 X Line Energy F steer and 315/70 R 22.5 X Line Energy D2 drive tyres will be available for customers to specify as original equipment for Actros trucks shipped from January 2016.
Pirelli has reported its latest original equipment success. Following on from last month’s news that the Pirelli P Zero and Scorpion Winter will be supplied to the BMW X5 M and X6 M, the tyre maker shares that a number of tyre models and sizes have been approved as OE fitments for the new BMW 7 Series G11/G12.
Boeing says its new 777X, which is scheduled to begin arriving with customers in 2019, is the largest and most efficient twin-engine jet in the world, an airliner “unmatched in every aspect of performance.” As of 1 December 2015, the Boeing 777X programme had received orders and commitments for 306 aircraft, and Goodyear Tire & Rubber reports that it will supply tyres to each and every one of these planes.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. shares that its Dunlop Enasave EC300+ will be fitted as original equipment on the new Toyota Prius, which goes on sale this month. The tyre maker has not specified which markets this deal applies to, however it indicates that the Enasave EC300+ will be supplied to Toyota in size 195/65R15 91S.
JCB has selected Michelin XeoBib tyres as the exclusive standard fitment on its new pole planting machine, the 4CX Polemaster+. The manufacturer reportedly decided to specify the high flotation Michelin tyre in size VF 600/60 R28 tyres as original equipment on the new machine after comparing a range of alternatives and being impressed by the tyres’ ability to protect soft ground when working in the field.
