Maxam MS302 OTR tyre receives Caterpillar OEM approval
Caterpillar Inc has approved the Maxam MS302 L3 tyre for use on specific Cat medium wheel loaders in size 23.5R25. The tyre is currently available as a factory fitment option on Cat 950GC, 950L, 950M, 962L, and 962M in certain regions. Additional Maxam MS302 tyre sizes have also been validated and approved for future factory fitment on additional Cat medium wheel loaders.
Kumho tyres OE on US-built BMW X3
Kumho Tire reports that models of the BMW X3 manufactured at the BMW America plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina are being fitted with the Kumho Crugen HP91 as original equipment. The sport activity vehicle rides on the Crugen in size 245/50R19 105W; the tyres are manufactured at Kumho’s Gwangju plant in South Korea.
Cooper Tire Europe appoints René Delonge sales director global OE light vehicle tyres
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe has appointed René Delonge sales director, global OE light vehicle tyres. Delonge has many years of experience in the tyre industry, with previous positions at Apollo Vredestein and Hankook. Delonge will be responsible for overseeing and managing sales of original equipment (OE) motorcycle tyres, as well as global sales of OE light vehicle tyres. He will build relationships with OE manufacturers and grow Cooper’s business portfolio with global OE partners.
ZC Rubber to introduce new Westlake TBR, Z series PCR tyres
ZC Rubber has announced that it will introduce a series of new commercial and consumer tyres in 2019. Covering European TBR and PCR tyre markets, the new products have been designed to meet local customer demands, the manufacturer states.

Bridgestone supply ologic technology tyres to Seat Minimó electric concept car
Seat has chosen Bridgestone as its preferred tyre partner to equip its new Minimó electric concept car, presented at the Geneva Motor Show. Minimó sits on specially designed tyres that apply Bridgestone’s ologic technology. Anticipating the design lines of a tyre oriented towards micro-mobility and CASE (Connected Autonomous Share Electric) vehicles, the tyres were developed for the car brand at Bridgestone’s R&D Centre in Rome.
Giti’s US plant approved for tyre supply to VW
Giti Tire’s United States manufacturing facility in South Carolina has completed an audit by Volkswagen to supply two tyre sizes for the 2019 Volkswagen Passat. The plant can now officially begin producing the All-Season GitiComfort A1 as an original equipment fitment for the Passat in sizes 235/45R18 95H and 235/40R19 92H. Production commences in the first quarter of the year; these tyres are the US plant’s first original equipment supplied tyres.
Maxion Wheels supplying VersaStyle to Tata Tiago
India’s Tata Motors has become the latest car maker to select Maxion Wheels’ VersaStyle steel wheel as an original equipment rim. Maxion Wheels will deliver 150,000 VersaStyle wheels a year for fitment on the Tata Tiago, a city car sold in the Indian market. Supply to Tata comes on top of the approximately three million VersaStyle wheels that Maxion Wheels produces annually for other customers.
Bridgestone to help Volkswagen ID. R in Nürburgring lap record bid
Bridgestone is supplying Potenza branded slick tyres as a new chapter in its Volkswagen supply partnership begins at the Green Hell of the Nürburgring. Volkswagen’s electric ID. R will aim to beat the lap record for electric vehicles on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in summer 2019. Bridgestone is a long-term original equipment tyre supplier for the firm’s production vehicles, and the new deal sees the companies expand their partnership into motorsport. The ID. R is the racing forerunner to the new ID. product family – Volkswagen’s wide range of purely electric vehicles to be launched from 2020.
Kumho tyres OE on Mercedes G-Class
Kumho Tire has once again been selected as an original equipment supplier to Mercedes-Benz. The latest generation of its G-Class model, produced in Graz, Austria, is factory fitted with Kumho’s Solus KL21 SUV tyres in size 265/60 R18 110H.
Bridgestone radials certified for Boeing 737 MAX 9
Bridgestone radial aircraft tyres have gained certification by Boeing for use as main tyres on the 737 MAX 9. This approval builds upon Bridgestone Corporation’s production of radial tyres for the 737 MAX 8.
Hankook tyres OE on Ford Focus Active
Ford’s new Focus Active is available from the factory with Hankook tyres, reports the tyre maker. As of December 2018, the crossover wears Hankook’s Ventus Prime 3 in sizes 215/50R18V and 215/55R17V.
Kumho adds BMW 5 Series to original equipment roster
Kumho has added the new BMW 5 Series to its portfolio of OEM supply deals. The tyre manufacturer’s Ecsta PS91 super sports tyre in size 245/45R18 XL 100Y is now being delivered to the German marque’s Dingolfing plant in Bavaria.
Yokohama enters 20th year supplying Lotus with new road legal OE track tyres
Yokohama is celebrating 20 years supplying original equipment tyres to Lotus Cars with another two supply deals. The latest Lotus Elise’s Sprint 220 and Sport 220 derivatives will be fitted with Yokohama’s Advan Sport V105 as original equipment, featuring a new wider front tyre size of 195/50R16, while retaining the 225/45R17 on the rear.
