The Dexel Tyre Group’s integration of CAM’s UniSerV application suite has gone live. The system is designed to help the commercial tyre supplier to increase job sheet processing efficiency. The system also provides a smoother transactional solution with tablet technology utilised for commercial jobs and breakdowns.
Tyre wholesaler Bond International has increased its direct involvement with the online tyre retail website Tyre Giant (tyregiant.com). Launched in September 2011, Tyre Giant was supplied by Bond from its inception, while the running of the operation was subcontracted to another retailer. Now, Bond has entered into a joint venture with digital marketing company Colewood Internet named Boco Tyres, which has taken over Tyre Giant operations, as well as those of Asda Tyres, the online tyre retail portal of the Big Four supermarket operated using Tyre Giant’s retail system. Boco Tyres has signalled its intentions to grow the online retailer’s penetration with a new price-match guarantee and a plan to grow the network of dealers within the Tyre Giant network. MAM Software reports that tyre dealer Paul Jarrold Tyres Ltd has experienced significant growth since using MAM Autopart Tyres, MAM Software’s flagship business management solution for the tyre industry. Paul Jarrold has now extended its operations by purchasing the premises next door as a result of opening new revenue streams and enhancing the customer experience.

That’s the view of market analysts at Frost & Sullivan, which also reports that the influence of the internet on the auto industry can be seen in the continuous growth of the eRetailing market for automotive parts in general. According to the analysts, eRetailing of automotive components has given aftermarket participants a fresh boost and presents a new sales channel dynamic enough to be in sync with evolving macro-economic conditions and also flexible enough to address customer needs by offering a personalized shopping experience.

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations has filed a patent infringement and unfair trade practices suit against US based retreader and price-driven online tyre retailer TreadWright, claiming the company copied the tread design on its Dueler A/T Revo tyre, which is protected by a 2003 patent. According to Bridgestone, TreadWright initially used the design on its Sentinel tyre. After it issued a cease-and-desist letter to the company in 2013, TreadWright stopped selling that tyre and released a new tyre, called the Watchman, which, according to Bridgestone, had the same tread design.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems has taken its European Interfit industrial tyre dealer support programme to North America, reports Tire Review. Officially launched on March 31, Interfit gives industrial tyre dealers the “opportunity to expand their business, generate more revenue and reach new customers,” Trelleborg said.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems has launched its agricultural tyre dealer programme at a meeting of its key dealers. Taking place at Mercedes Benz World, Brooklands, the event provided the chance to “share information, which is the crux of why we are here,” according to Trelleborg marketing manager Bruce Lauder’s introduction. Crewe-based online tyre retailer Tyres On The Drive has enlisted outdoor advertising specialist Out Of Home International to help promote its services with a series of billboard advertising. Starting yesterday, six sheet adverts have been strategically placed at forecourts across Yorkshire and the North West. The two-week campaign was launched to inform motorists of the company’s tyre purchasing and fitting facilities and highlights the convenience and cost savings of mobile tyre fitting compared with the traditional garage experience. The billboards promise prices “up to 40 per cent cheaper than the high street,” and a service that fits around home and work schedules.
