The UK Online Performance Awards from Experian Hitwise celebrate the most successful UK websites across 60 key industries, based on market share of UK visits received throughout 2009. Hitwise monitors the internet usage of over eight million online consumers in the UK to gather this information.

ViaMichelin Launches Free iPhone Traffic App

ViaMichelin, French tyremaker’s Michelin’s online mapping service, has launched a mobile application offering real-time UK traffic information, free of charge to iPhone owners. The announcement follows the launch of the Michelin guide iPhone app series. Optimised for iPhone 3G handsets but equally compatible with first generation iPhones, the app is simple to use and also enables users to access ViaMichelin maps directly from their handsets.

Bridgestone to be Official NFL Tyre for Five More Years

Bridgestone will remain the “Official Tire of the National Football League” in the US following a five-year extension of the marketing sponsorship deal between Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) and the National Football League (NFL) was agreed upon on July 15. Under the agreement, a continuation of a three-year deal that commenced in 2007, BATO will continue to work with the NFL brand through numerous exclusive promotional opportunities, including the title sponsorship of the Super Bowl halftime shows for Super Bowls XLV – XLIX.

Delticom Increases Target EBIT Margin

Online tyre retailer Delticom AG reports a “significant” increase in revenues and earnings during the first half of 2010, and while admitting it may have to face “headwind” from a weakening consumer climate and negative base effects in the upcoming quarters, the company’s management board says it is now confident of achieving a higher level of profitability than initially expected for the full year.

8th CitExpo Gaining Momentum

The 8th annual China International Tire Expo – CitExpo – will be held at Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center this September 8-10. According to Wilko Fong, managing director of show operator Reliable International Exhibition Services, the number of registered exhibitors is expected to exceed last year’s CitExpo, with more than 300 exhibitors expected, covering 21,000 square meters of space over three halls.

AMS Tyres & Autocentre’s Installs Cameo

Cam Systems has introduced its Cameo platform into AMS Tyres & Autocentre across all of its three sites in Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot. The Cameo system replaces AMS’ existing point of sale and business management system. The integration of the Cameo system into AMS will improve day to day operations and enable the company to become more time efficient, offering a higher quality of service to its customers. New Online Tool Helps With Hard to Find Tyres

TireHunter.com, a subsidiary of Network Tire Inc., from Chalfont, Pennsylvania in the US, has launched a free service for tyre wholesalers, retailers and consumers. According to the company, TireHunter.com helps locate those “hard to find” tyres and can do so “whether it’s one tyre or a container.” Apart from the wide-ranging scale, what’s unique about this offering is the fact that the company will arrange to ship the tyres it finds directly to the customers’ location.

Giti Wins Shanghai Bus Tyre Deal

Giti Tire has won a contract with Shanghai Auto-Parts E-Procurement Co., Ltd., for the huge fleet of Shanghai buses and has begun the conversion process of supplying tyres. According to the tyremaker, the key product is the city bus tyre, the GT867. This fleet is a great shop window for Giti, as the city is hosting the World Expo 2010 with an expected 70 million visitors.

Shanghai Auto-Parts E-Procurement Co., Ltd. provides professional online purchasing service of vehicles and components for Shanghai city public transportation. It is a joint venture established in 2004, by Shanghai Ba-shi (Group) Co., Ltd. the biggest land transport company in Shanghai, and seven other companies including Shanghai Bus Taxi Co., Ltd.
