Commercial tyre specialist AC Tyres is to streamline job sheet processing with its adoption of Cam Systems’ Document Manager. In addition the company will manage the transactional data feed to and from third party systems with the third party integration (3Pi) module from the UniSerV application suite. The module will eliminate double entry at both ends and “save up to a day a week” in administration time and costs according to Cam.
Hull-based Tyremen reports that it recently launched the UK TyreNetwork (UKTN) to offer a fitting service throughout the UK for its internet customers. After choosing the tyres they need on the Tyremen website, the UKTN allows drivers wherever they are in the country to order and pay for the tyres they need and have them fitted at a garage of their choice.

Cam Systems has announced plans to launch a new Online Tyre Catalogue (OTC) to provide the UK tyre industry with a central data hub to address the needs of EU legislation. OEMs and Importers will be able to upload their product data updates into the OTC from 1 July 2012.

Automotive buying group United Aftermarket Network has launched its new website, one of its new initiatives aimed at supporting its distributors’ part-selling businesses. In order to deliver this support, UAN now allows distributors to access instantly its approved supplier agreements online, allowing real time access to supplier data. The new site, described as a complete overhaul of its predecessor, also includes a comprehensive section on its central rebate programme.
Maxxis Tyres has agreed to sponsor Liverpool FC for a further three years, extending its partnership with the club until 2015. Pirelli has announced a variety of upgrades to its consumer website, including a new section about tyre labelling. The website, the main information source for Pirelli’s various products on the UK and international markets, boasts a greater degree of interactivity, helping visitors to make more informed tyre choices. Pirelli UK managing director Dominic Sandivasci commented: “We recognise that the new labelling legislation may be confusing to some of our consumers, so we felt it was important to create an interactive platform on our website to help our customers understand more about the changes, and how they can ultimately benefit from the new labelling regulations.”
Treasury & Risk magazine's 2012 list of "30 Outstanding Women in Finance" includes Laura K. Thompson, vice president, finance for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's North American Tire business. Thompson directs finance for the company's largest business unit, with annual sales of nearly $10 billion. Bosch has redesigned its automotive aftermarket website – boschautoparts.com – primarily to “improve visitor engagement and ease of use,” Tire Review reports. The site is “more visually engaging and especially easy to navigate,” Bosch claimed, and “covers a wide range of product lines, special promotions, motorsports, Bosch Gear, a vehicle part finder, and a local parts store locator.”
Main dealers don’t spring readily to mind when the average motorists thinks of affordable online tyre purchasing, yet Audi says that its approved centres throughout the UK offer competitive tyre fitting. Indeed, the company says that during March quotes given by its Audi Centres and Audi Authorised Repairers were, on average, four per cent cheaper than the leading national online tyre supplier on a like-for-like basis. To help drivers work out the fully-fitted cost of new tyres purchased through its centres, Audi has introduced a new online tyre quotation tool at www.audi.co.uk/tyres.
