Students at Lady Hawkins School in Kington, Herefordshire gained valuable insight into the diverse career opportunities within the UK’s automotive aftermarket, thanks to an engaging talk by Tim Benson, owner of Oldfields Garage. Addressing Year 10 and 11 pupils last week, Benson shared his journey in the industry, emphasising that success is not determined by background or academic achievements.
Leominster’s Oldfields Garage recently welcomed Ellie Chowns, Green MP for North Herefordshire, to its workshop, marking a celebration of the business’s impressive achievements in 2024. The visit in December came as Oldfields Garage follows several prestigious industry and local awards wins over the past year. During the visit, Tim Benson, Managing Director of Oldfields Garage, raised key concerns facing the wider automotive industry.
A 19-year-old apprentice working at Oldfields Garage in Leominster is thought to be the youngest technician in the UK to have been awarded the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Level 3 qualification, having completed the course at Delphi Academy in Warwick.
Repxpert Alistair Mason recently piloted one of Schaeffler’s technical support vehicles to Oldfields Garage in Leominster, a workshop that has been fitting Schaeffler products successfully for a number of years, in order to provide some training to its dedicated team of technicians.
