The Ferrari FF was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and is now on sale for £227,077, plus optional extras. The Italian manufacturer’s latest offering is available in various rim and tyre sizes, and Bridgestone reports its Potenza S001 has been chosen as one of the original equipment fitments for the four-seat, four wheel drive Ferrari.
When the latest generation BMW M6 is released in summer 2012, the German manufacturer’s largest M-badged coupé and convertible will be supplied exclusively with Michelin’s Pilot Super Sport tyres. Michelin has not specified which dimensions are covered by the supply agreement, however BMW has selected 265/40 ZR19 102Y for the front wheels and 295/35 ZR19 104Y on the rear as standard equipment on the M6, with 265/35 ZR20 99Y as a front axle option and 295/30 ZR20 101Y as an option for the rear.
On the back of offering what it calls a “very competitive technical package,” Bridgestone has secured primary original equipment fitment for the recently launched Peugeot 208. The tyre maker will supply its EP25 in size 185/65R15 88T as the predominant tyre on Peugeot 208 models with 15-inch rims and Potenza RE050A in size 205/45R17 88V as the sole 17-inch fitment.
The latest new motorcycle and scooter figures show last month sales overall were down 1 per cent against May 2011. Under 50cc bike sales were down 7.6 per cent in May, while over 50cc motorcycle sales matched those of last year.
Sue Robinson, director of the RMI National Franchised Dealers Association which represents motorcycle and franchised car retailers across the UK commented "The motorcycle market remained flat in May, with 100 fewer motorcycles sold than in the same month in 2011.
Figures released by ACEA, the European association of automobile manufacturers, show that, in May, demand for new passenger cars in the EU was down (-8.7 per cent) for the eighth consecutive month. In total, 1,106,845 new cars were recorded in the region. May 2012 counted on average one working day less than May 2011.
BMW has selected Bridgestone tyres as original equipment for the new BMW 3 Series model. A combination of standard touring and Run Flat Technology (RFT) tyres have been selected to run across the BMW 3 series range. With a strong focus on safety and balanced performance, the chosen tyres have been introduced to the European market for 2012.

June 6th marked a milestone for the BMW Group's UK engine plant at Hams Hall, near Birmingham, with the production of the factory's three millionth engine.
The power unit – a 1.6 four-cylinder petrol engine – will be despatched to the MINI plant at Oxford, destined for a car to be built for the emerging Indian market. MINI made its debut in the premium small car segment in India earlier this year marking MINIs 100th export market where three exclusive outlets are being established.
"It is encouraging that new truck and van sales increased in May with the overall market up 10 per cent in comparison to the same month last year” said Sue Robinson, Director of the RMI National Franchised Dealers Association which represents commercial vehicle and franchised car retailers across the UK, commenting on the SMMT’s van and truck registration figures. Robinson continued "Van sales improved in May, for the first time in 2012, up 6.7 per cent.
In April, new CV registrations fell by 1.2 per cent in France, 1.6 per cent in Germany, 13.3 per cent in the UK, 28.9 per cent in Spain and 38.6 per cent in Italy. Four months into the year, downturn continued its course (-10.1 per cent) as all major markets shrank. France remained the largest market, despite a 4.7 per cent contraction, followed by Germany (-1.2 per cent) and the UK (-9.8 per cent). Spain (-24.1 per cent) and Italy (-36.7 per cent) recorded more severe drops. In total, 589,987 vehicles were registered throughout the period.
Nexen Tire’s new factory in Changnyeong, South Korea has entered service, and according to Joo-Ho Song, senior managing director, global marketing at Nexen, the facility will play a key role in the tyre maker’s ambitious plans. Output at Changnyeong will initially be a modest 3 million units in 2012 and will build up, aided by five planned further factory expansions, to 21 million units – 60,000 tyres a day – by 2018. By that date, Nexen says it will have invested a total of 1,200 billion won (£650 million) in the plant.
Standardisation of the connection between the electricity grid and electrically-chargeable vehicles is one of the prerequisites to help e-mobility gain a viable market share, say leading European associations.
Goodyear Aviation will supply its Flight Radial tyre to the new Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 business aircraft, scheduled to enter service in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Goodyear will provide the aircraft manufacturer with nose and main radial tyres for both the original equipment and replacement channels, according to Bert Aertssen, general manager, global aviation, Goodyear. “This award underscores Goodyear’s commitment to providing the industry with revolutionary radial tyre solutions with the incorporation of alloy core bead technology,” he said.
Bridgestone Europe will supply original equipment tyres to Volvo Car Corporation, securing the tyre manufacturer’s first partnership with the Swedish firm. The Turanza T001 will be fitted to the new Volvo V40 five-door hatchback and the Volvo XC60 will be shod with Dueler tyres during May 2012.
