In addition to taking on the positions of Chief Executive Officer within Bridgestone Corporation’s Bridgestone East regional business and G-MICA (Global Mining, Industrial, Construction, and Aviation Tire Solutions Business), from 1 January 2025 Nobuyuki Tamura will also become Chairman and Representative Board Member of Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd. Tamura succeeds Fumihiko Eitiko, who is retiring effective 31 December 2024.
For Bridgestone, 2025 will begin with changes within the company’s senior management. This minor personnel reshuffle includes the addition of new management functions as well as the naming of new leadership within existing roles.
Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) and Bridgestone Corporation have extended the application of their tyre wear prediction technology to implement scheduled tyre replacement operations for large jet aircraft, including the Airbus A350-900, which JAL has operated since May 2024.
Airbus has bestowed a supplier award upon Bridgestone Corporation in recognition of the tyre maker’s “efforts to realise a sustainable society.” Bridgestone received this award, given in the sustainability category, during last month’s Airbus Global Supplier Conference in Toulouse, France.
Bridgestone Corporation has introduced a new mining solution service that uses a proprietary, Bridgestone-developed algorithm to estimate tyre durability. It first introduced this offering in July 2023 to the BHP Group’s Spence copper mine (Pampa Norte operation) in Chile, which also uses the service to propose the optimal timing for tyre timing as well as driving routes for the mine.
As of 1 October 2023, Nobuyuki Tamura will finish his tenure as Chief Communication Officer of Bridgestone Corporation, a position held since 1 October 2022. Bridgestone has yet to name Tamura’s successor in this role.
