Nexen Tire is raising prices across its entire product range, effective 1 February 2022. According to the company, “rising raw material prices as well as freight and logistics costs” are behind the price hike. No details of the percentage increase have yet been released.
During its Board of Directors meeting on 14 April, the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association welcomed Nexen Tire Europe and the Czech Republic and Slovakia Tyre Producers’ Associations as new members of the Association, as of 2022. With their addition, the ETRMA will represent 15 global tyre manufacturers and 11 national sector Associations.
Nexen Tire Europe s.r.o. has appointed José Luis Corral Rosado its director of marketing for Europe. He joined Nexen on 1 February, and in his new role will intensify the tyre maker’s strategic brand communications and work to elevate brand recognition.
Nexen Tire Europe is rationalising its approach to sales and marketing, and has thus announced changes affecting its operations in Austria and Sweden. The tyre maker will transfer responsibility for both markets’ sales organisations to its European headquarters in Kelkheim, Germany by the end of Q1 2021.
Much has changed at Nexen Tire of late, a phenomenon particularly noticeable within the South Korean tyre maker’s European operation. In the past two years, the company has set up a new production facility in the Czech Republic and a European headquarters in Germany as part of its ‘Global Nexen’ strategy. This expansion is occurring parallel to similar growth in Korea and the USA.
Nexen Tire has announced four world premieres to be presented on its 370sqm booth at The Tire Cologne (Hall 6, Stand A-010 B-019) between 29 May and 1 June, 2018. Two of the new products will be the successor to the N´Fera SU1, the new N´Fera Sport, and the Winguard Sport 2 SUV.
Peter Gulow, former director of Bridgestone Europe’s Central Region car tyre business, is to be the next managing director for Nexen Tire Europe’s ‘DACH’ region. The tyre maker will most likely provide further detail regarding the appointment this week, however it is understood that Gulow will be responsible for sales and marketing within the German, Austrian and Swiss markets.
Nexen Tire is advertising in a motorsport championship that doesn’t actually exist in the real world, and that’s a good thing, as this non-existent championship is the mobile racing game Asphalt 8. Starting 30 March, the tyre maker is targeting consumers in European markets through the placement of video and banner advertisements within the Asphalt 8 game and by holding various in-game events, including a customised sponsor cup – the Nexen Tire Cup – and by offering mini games for European markets.
Nexen Tire reports that Joo-Ho Song, The former president of Nexen Tire is to “take over new functions” at the company. Nexen was at pains to point out that the news marks the end of “an almost two year lasting success story of the Korean top manager in Germany”. No details of who will follow Joo-Ho Song have yet been released, but an announcement is expected shortly.
