Volkswagen Group has homologated the Nexen N’Fera Sport as an original equipment tyre for the Škoda Karoq. Nexen Tire considers the selection of its flagship UHP summer tyre a “significant milestone” in its ongoing partnership with Škoda and an approval that further establishes its position as a “premium supplier of high-quality tyres to leading automotive brands.”
From 1 April, Michael Haupt is leading the Original Equipment division at Sumitomo Rubber Europe as Senior Manager Tyre Design/Automotive OE. He joins the manufacturer behind the Falken and Dunlop tyre brands from Nexen Tire, where he had spent half a decade.
Nexen Tire is establishing a dedicated winter tyre testing centre at UTAC proving ground in Ivalo, Finland. This facility will serve as a foundation for winter tyre performance testing and research and development. UTAC will oversee the construction of the centre, as well as its operation, which Nexen Tire expects to begin in full by December 2025.
Nexen Tire has entered “a strategic global marketing partnership” with Sydney FC, Australia’s most successful football club. By doing so, Nexen aims to expand its marketing reach beyond Europe and the United States, “enhancing brand recognition in the global market”.
Nexen Tire has announced the promotion of five executives, including that of John Bosco (Hyeon Suk) Kim as Chief Executive Officer. He has taken on this position as of 1 December 2024 and serves within the team led by Travis Kang, who will continue in his role as Global CEO and Vice Chairman. Announcing these appointments, the company says it has “selected next-generation leaders who have achieved demonstrated success in key business areas such as sales, production, and research and development.”
The Nexen N’blue S has arrived, and Nexen Tire says its new summer tyre offers “advanced safety, energy efficiency, and superior driving stability.” Test results show 11 per cent better wet braking distance compared to the prior generation product, an improvement the tyre maker attributes to the use of highly dispersed silica that enhances road contact and traction on slippery surfaces.
Another original equipment approval for Nexen Tire, this time in North America. Both the petrol and electric versions of the all-new Dodge Charger and Challenger muscle cars will wear all-season Nexen N’Fera AU7 tyres. Announcing the arrangement, Nexen Tire’s Global CEO, Travis King said: “Supplying OE tyres for such iconic vehicles in American automotive history is a remarkable achievement. We will continue to enhance our brand value by expanding OE tyre supply for premium vehicles through ongoing R&D and quality improvement efforts.”
Nexen Tire held a 10th anniversary event on 6 September, celebrating a decade of tyre distribution with Amring. Nexen Tire has provided further insights into its use of emerging technologies, such as XAI (eXplainable AI)-based design processes and 3D printing for tyre mould production. The company aims to “further expand its partnerships with global automakers through these innovations.”
Nexen Tire has announced revenue of KRW 763.8 billion (£427.73 million) and operating profit of KRW 62.9 billion (£35.22 million) for the second quarter of 2024. This reflects a 10.5 per cent increase in revenue and a 69.5 per cent increase in operating profit compared to the same period last year.

Porsche has approved the Nexen N’Fera Sport SUV as an original equipment tyre for the Cayenne. Homologation for the latest, third-generation model of this SUV continues a supply arrangement that commenced in 2016.
On 4 July, Nexen Tire unveiled its ‘High Dynamic Driving Simulator,’ a VR-based tool for tyre development. This initiative, which Nexen Tire says is a first for a Korean tyre maker, draws upon the specialist know-how of British equipment supplier Ansible Motion. The tyre maker anticipates that the driving simulator will foster collaboration with vehicle manufacturers, reducing vehicle development times and costs through accelerated virtual development.
The partnership between Nexen Tire and Czech First League (Chance League) club SK Slavia Praha will continue for a fourth consecutive season. Announcing the extension, Nexen Tire comments that the aim of this renewed partnership is to leverage the popularity and reach of SK Slavia Praha to solidify Nexen’s “strong market position.” Together with the club, Nexen Tire will “engage in various co-branded activities designed to enhance brand visibility and fan engagement” across the region.
At the end of June 2024, the first Nexen InnoForum was held at the Allianz Stadium in Turin in cooperation with Juventus FC. The event, organized as a dealer conference for direct retailers from all over Italy, reportedly “marked a milestone in the partnership between Nexen Tire and Juventus, which started almost a year ago”. The dealer conference attracted a total of over 70 participants from all over Italy.
