Oxon F1 exhaust manufacturer moves to new, larger factory

Oxfordshire specialist automotive exhaust manufacturer, Primary Designs has announced that it has moved to a larger new factory in Thame, Oxfordshire. The move to a purpose-built 6500 square feet factory was prompted by an increasing order book and diversification into classic, performance car and aerospace sectors, and will lead to recruitment for new manufacturing jobs at the site. Primary Designs said increased demand from Formula One, coupled with the company’s decision to grow its range for Ferraris, Porsches and other supercars as well as develop entirely new sectors had allowed it to upscale its manufacturing operation.

Motorsports successes mark Brembo's Golden Jubilee

Brembo, the designer and manufacturer of brake systems and high performance automotive components, celebrates 50 years in business, confirming its technological supremacy through a string of great successes in competitive motorsports during 2011.

The list of winners using Brembo products is truly staggering. Among these are 12 victories in the Formula One Championship that saw Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull Racing team successfully defending the Drivers' and Constructors' Titles won in 2010. Involved in Formula One since 1975, Brembo is able to boast 205 Grand Prix race wins, making up a total of 17 World Championship Drivers' titles and 21 World Championship Constructors' titles, achieved with the top teams.

Bridgestone MotoGP tyres “too hard” – Capirossi

The new safety advisor to MotoGP and series promoter Dorna, Loris Capirosi has told an Italian motorsport magazine that he has made it his priority to improve the safety of tyres supplied to the series by Bridgestone. The 22 year racing veteran – including 10 years as a MotoGP rider – said that he had met with Bridgestone in Valencia, characterising the encounter as “tough”.

Toyo to exhibit new sports tyres at Brussels

Toyo will exhibit its new Proxes T1 Sport and the Proxes T1 Sport SUV at its stand at the Brussels Motor Show later this month. The tyre manufacturer’s stand will be situated on the patio, and it says visitors will “gain an insight into the main precepts of the Toyo Tires strategy”, through the breadth of products on show. Toyo says it will “aim to confirm the company’s commitment to meeting the needs of today’s drivers: good value for money and a great driving experience.” The 90th Brussels Motor Show opens on 12 January 2012.

Bosch appoints Proctor to ‘Around the Wheel’ role

Bosch has appointed Iain Procter to the position of product specialist for Around the Wheel equipment within its Automotive Aftermarket division. Proctor’s sphere of responsibility includes tyre service equipment, four wheel alignment, lifts and brake testers. His role encompasses marketing and product management, including both technical and sales support for the Bosch and Beissbarth product ranges.

Toyo Tires to support Robby Gordon in 2012 Dakar

Toyo Tires will fit its Open Country M/T-R tyres to Robby Gordon’s Team SPEED in the 2012 Dakar. Two of Robby Gordon’s specially built Hummer H3 racers will compete for the overall win; defending 2011 Dakar winner, Nasser Al-Attiyah joins the team in the #300 Qatar/Toyo Tires Hummer H3 while Gordon will drive his bright orange #303 SPEED Energy/Toyo Tires entry. Past off-road racing champions Gordon and Toyo Tires first competed in the Dakar in 2006. “Toyo Tires and I have worked hard over the years to develop a tyre combination that is right for the HUMMER,” said Gordon.

Kumho reviews motorsport season

2011 was Kumho’s ninth and final year as official supplier to the Formula 3 Euro Series, for which the company created a new tyre with stiffer construction and softer tread compound. The intention was to create a cover with a more significant performance peak coupled to a reduction in grip after just a few laps, what Kumho views as the type of cycle F3’s aspiring Grand Prix drivers need to cope with if they are to make it to the pinnacle of motorsport. The product helped competitors to break lap records achieved on the previous tyre.

Toyo renews NASA partnership

Toyo Tire U.S.A. has announced it will continue as the official tyre of NASA. For those scratching their heads at this point, the NASA Toyo is connected to is the National Auto Sport Association rather than the space agency; continuing a relationship that began in 2002 when the Proxes Ra1 was first chosen as the spec tyre for select racing classes, Toyo has renewed its agreement with NASA through 2015. In addition, Toyo Tires returns as the title sponsor of the NASA Championships.

SKN and Marangoni present "Tuning Car 2011" at the Essen Motor Show

Marangoni is partnering tuner SKN with its "Motor Show Tuning Car 2011” featured at the Essen Motor Show, from 26 November to 4 December 2011. At the show tuning enthusiasts have embarked on a complete transformation of a VW Golf GTI (2.0 TFSI 200 HP). The Golf V project car will be equipped with Marangoni M-Power 225/35R19 tyres.

Pirelli talks road and race tyre commonality

Pirelli’s entrance into Formula One tyre supply was informed, in common with most motorsport tyre suppliers, by the desire to enhance recognition of the brand and sell more road tyres. When manufacturers start to market their tyres based on their motorsport involvement, a primary rhetorical stance is often to speak of “race to road” technological advantages; in other words, motorsport research yields certain technologies that help to improve companies’ passenger car tyres. HRE rounds out Vredestein’s ‘Premium Styling’ portfolio

US-company HRE Performance Wheels is the latest rim manufacturer to team up with Vredestein’s Premium Styling label. The tyre maker says it and HRE decided to join forces as both companies “serve the same high end target group.” This new partnership will have its public debut at Vredestein’s stand during the Essen Motor Show.

Year 29 – Yokohama gears up for Macau GP

For the 29th consecutive year, Yokohama Rubber will serve as sole tyre supplier for the Macau Grand Prix. This Formula 3 event, being held for the 58th time, gets underway tomorrow and runs until November 20. Yokohama will also again be the exclusive tyre supplier in the culminating event of 2011 FIA World Touring Car Championship, a race taking place in Macau in conjunction with the Macau Grand Prix. The weekend’s racing events will also include a touring car race for local drivers and a motorcycle race.
