Michelin may be gearing up to supply the MotoGP series from 2016, but the Bridgestone name is currently still very much associated with the top-flight championship. The Japanese manufacturer reports that through a new agreement with BMW M, it will supply tyres for all MotoGP safety and medical vehicles.
The BRSCC Teekay Couplings Production Mk2 GTi Championship will run on Toyo tyres again in its 2015 season. The Toyo R888 will be used as control tyre for all competitors in both the Mk2 and the new Mk5 GTi sister race package, which will run alongside the Mk2 series.
Avon has been appointed control tyre supplier to the Thundersport GB Aprilia RRV450GP race series. The manufacturer will supply its road-legal 3D Ultra Xtreme track tyres as the official dry race tyre, as well as racing wet tyres, in sizes 120/70ZR17 (front) and180/55ZR17 (rear).
Avon Tyres will supply slick and wet tyres to classic race cars from the ‘80s and ‘90s under a three-year deal it has signed with Group C Racing. Commenting on the new partnership, Group C Racing’s race series manager, Zoe Copas, said: “It is great for us to be involved with Avon.
Pirelli has been unveiled as the new tyre supplier to the BRDC Formula 4 Championship. The deal, agreed with BRDC F4 creator and promoter MotorSport Vision, Pirelli will fit P Zero brand tyres to all the MSV F4-013 cars from 2015. The new deal was revealed today at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. The series had been supplied for its first two years by Yokohama, though the series’ goal of becoming a Formula One feeder series would have made the current F1 supplier’s tyres an attractive proposition.
It’s already reported having original equipment tyre supply deals for the TT and TTS in the bag, now Hankook Tire has announced it will also supply original equipment tyres to a race championship featuring the Audi model. As exclusive tyre supplier to the Audi Sport TT Cup racing series, Hankook will supply all competitors with its Ventus Race tyres.
Pirelli has announced its title sponsorship of the Offroad British Masters Series in 2015. Run by Offroad Motorsport UK, the Pirelli British Masters Series will be run over six rounds at some of the UK’s top motocross circuits, including Foxhills and HawkstonePark. The manufacturer said it would enhance the availability of rider tuition and prizes for competitors as part of the deal.
Pirelli is to be the main sponsor of the grand finale of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship. Held next weekend in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit, Doha, the last round of the season will take the official name: “Pirelli Qatar Round”. The event is also notable as the first time the Superbike World Championship will take place at night.
Michelin has named Protyre Motorsport as its global tyre supply partner in the inaugural FIA Formula E championship. The Winchester based firm will supply and service the Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyre, which has been specially developed for the series. Protyre experts will co-ordinate logistics and trackside assistance to all teams over the 10 rounds of the innovative series.

Following the announcement that Michelin will be the new exclusive tyre supplier to MotoGP, Dunlop announced it would continue to concentrate on its current supply partnerships: “MotoGP continues to be a very strong global event and we are proud of our long-standing relationship with the MotoGP organizers through our continued supply to the FIM Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships. Dunlop is in the fortunate position of having many strong partnerships with motorcycle manufacturers and leading championships around the world. We have taken the decision to focus on developing and supplying tyres for these important partners for the immediate future,” stated Sanjay Khanna, managing director, Dunlop Motorsport and Motorcycle EMEA.

After what will be fourteen years of involvement, Bridgestone will end its MotoGP tyre supply at the end of the 2015 season. Series organiser Dorna has agreed to extend Bridgestone’s current supply contract, which was due to expire after the current season, for one year, and the company says this will then be its final season as tyre supplier. As was the case when it reported in 2009 its intention to wrap up supply to Formula One, the tyre maker links its decision to cease MotoGP supply to a fulfillment of the objectives it set out for itself in the championship.

Dunlop will be the ‘Official Tyre Partner’ of the 2014 Isle of Man TT races, having signed a new multi-year deal. The tyre brand has competed in all but two years of the championship since its first in 1907. John McGuinness and Joey Dunlop are among the many riders to have shod their bikes with Dunlop tyres, and the manufacturer has claimed more TT wins than any other tyre brand.
