Mitas has extended its Sport Force+ EV tyre range with the addition of two new rear sizes, 180/60ZR17 and 200/55ZR17, available from August 2023. The latest additions expand the tyre range to seven sizes in total.
Mitas has extended its Mousse range with junior sizes to better support young racers on the path to higher racing classes. Mousse replaces the need for inner tubes in off-road two-wheeler racing. Gustavo Pinto Teixeira, vice president of Two Wheels and Specialty Tires at Yokohama TWS, explains: “There is a lot of excitement about adding two of the most popular junior sizes to our existing Mousse range. With this addition, we are creating a solid foundation for developing young talented racers.”
Custom Force tyres will be on display for the first time in Brazil at São Paolo’s Festival Interlagos, along with other Mitas flagship lines for on-road, adventure and off-road riding. 80,000 visitors are expected at the annual Festival Interlagos from June 22-25 in São Paolo, with Mitas Ambassadors Rigor Rico and Marcelo Silverio in attendance.
Mitas will continue its partnership with the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo extreme enduro event, including the exciting Mitas Rocket Ride and exclusive tyre sales and service at the race site.
Mitas is extending Touring Force tyre range with 15” sizes which can be used on modern maxi scooters as well as innovative and powerful three-wheelers. Two new sizes, 120/70R15 56V front and 160/60R15 67V rear, will be available on the market from May 2023.
Mitas is launching a new tread pattern in its adventure range, the Enduro Trail-ADV, which the company says “reflects the true spirit of modern adventure riders and delivers superb performance on and off the road.”
Mitas is expanding its Sport Force+ RS tyre range with the addition of larger sizes. The new 120/70 ZR17, 180/55 ZR17 and 190/55 ZR17 sizes expand the range to a total of six fitments and are expected to hit the market in April 2023.
Mitas has launched a tubeless version of the SW-07 Speedway tyre, one of the world’s most-used tyres in speedway racing. The new tyre is specifically designed for tubeless rims at the highest level of the sport. The newly developed construction of the SW-07 Speedway delivers excellent start acceleration, outstanding traction throughout a race, and superior lap times. It is easily recognizable by two orange stripes on the tread pattern.
Mitas has signed a partnership with KTM Sportmotorcycle GmbH to fit its Enduro Trail+ tyres to the new 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R motorcycle. Following the Mitas Terra Force-R on the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and Mitas E-07 on the 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R, this is the third Mitas original equipment fitment approved by KTM.
Mitas has announced price increases for motorcycle, scooter, go-kart, trailer and aircraft tyres. As a result, prices will rise by up to 10 per cent effective from 1 September 2022.
Mitas has expanded its Grip’N’Ride range of construction tyres with a larger size tyre for wheeled and backhoe loaders. Announcing this new addition, Mitas shares that it designed the 21L – 24 IND tyre to deliver improved performance even on softer terrain. The tyre features strengthened sidewalls for greater durability when handling increased load capacity, a tread pattern that delivers increased grip, and self-cleaning properties.
Mitas has been named the official sponsor of Mitas Eurocup Series 2022, the agri-flavoured competition organised by the European Tractor Pulling Committee (ETPC). This season, competitors are battling it out at nine outdoor events, with the European Championship taking place in Great Eccleston at the end of August.
Mitas’s newest two-wheeler tyre production facility in India has been formally inaugurated, following our early 2022 article that the factory was ready to commence production. The factory, which will serve global motorcycle tyre markets, is the result of a joint venture with the Mahansaria Group. The two companies are combining their expertise to bring Mitas tyre engineering into the two-wheeler tyre market. Both companies have been working throughout the challenges of the last two years, to test and produce tyres. The Mitas brand is part of Trelleborg Wheel Systems, whose sale to Yokohama for 2.1 billion euros was confirmed at the turn of the year.
Mitas has extended its mousse range with the inclusion a new rally version. The new Mitas Rally Mousse features a durable compound that is suitable to high speeds and resistant to heat and sharp objects. It is designed for use in combination with a range of Mitas Rally tyres including E-12 Rally Star, E-13 Rally Star, C-21 Stoneking and C-17 Stoneater Dakar, and available in the 140/80-18 rear and 90/90-21 front sizes.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems (TWS) has confirmed a timetable of beginning volume two-wheeler tyre production at the SYAM Trelleborg Tires LLP joint venture factory “by early 2022” following the start of trial manufacturing last December. With the plant’s entry into operation, TWS looks forward to an increased production capacity of two-wheeler tyres that not only “contributes to consolidate market presence” in southeast Asia, a region where two-wheeled vehicles are in great demand, but also “augmenting motorcycle operations across Europe and North America.”
