Magna Tyres offers a wide range of construction and mining patterns that are specifically developed to withstand extreme and challenging conditions, such as muddy, rocky, and sandy terrains. These tyres are designed for use with wheeled loaders, dumpers, scrapers, and other off-road equipment.
Next month, the Steinexpo raw materials and building materials industry trade fair returns after a long absence. Around 400 brands are expected to be present at the show in Germany from 23 to 26 August, including a number of familiar names.
Announcing the arrival of a new size 9.00-20 tyre, Nokian Tyres states that its Armor Gard 2 Mine “provides exceptional cut resistance, superb handling, and a prolonged service life,” making it an “ideal choice for drill rigs operating in demanding mining environments.” The 9.00-20 tyre joins a 10.00-20 size product in the range.
A fortnight ago, BKT announced its aim of increasing production by around 67% and achieving an annual turnover of US$2 billion in 3 years. The company’s Bhuj facility in western India is key to these plans and will soon manufacture numerous new products, including off-highway truck tyres, agro-forestry radials, tracks and an expanded mining tyre portfolio. Bridgestone’s Shimonoseki and Kitakyushu tyre plants in Japan are now equipped with solar power systems. With a combined generation capacity of 5.8 MW, these systems will supply electricity to produce tyres at the two sites. Bridgestone speaks of an annual CO2 reduction of around 2,700 tonnes.
Yokohama Off-Highway Tires has introduced two further sizes into its Galaxy LSDR 510 range for wheel loaders and dozers operating in mining and earthmoving applications. The new 17.5R25 and 20.5R25 tyres join existing size 23.5R25 in the LSDR 510 line-up to provide fitment options for an even broader range of machinery.
To meet growing demand for mining tyre recycling and recycled rubber products, specifically carbon black and rCB, Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group and Mitsui & Co. have entered into a joint venture commercialise the Kal Tire thermal conversion recycling facility in Chile from early 2023. Activities there will act as a “foundation” as the venture pursues “opportunities to bring OTR tyre recycling solutions to mining regions around the world.”
Promising a “smooth ride and long service life despite heavy loads and abrasive surfaces,” Continental will debut the new LD-Master L5 Traction radial at the Bauma show in Germany this October. It will initially offer this latest addition to the ContiEarth range for loaders operating on abrasive surfaces in size 35/65 R33. In addition, Continental will present its EM-Master E3/L3 as a 65-series tyre for construction and surface applications at Bauma and also provide a sneak preview of a new solid skid steer tyre.
Magna Tyres will unveil two new mining patterns at this October’s Bauma trade fair in Germany. It will present the Magna MU30 for underground mining trucks and wheel loaders and the Magna MA60 articulated dump truck (ADT) tyre. Both will appear on the Magna Tyres stand (A6.425) in Hall 6 of the Messe München complex.
Last Friday, CTS Tyre Recycling broke ground on the first-ever tyre recycling facility in Western Australia. Construction work will begin in the coming weeks, and when the AU$7 million (£4.1 million) plant enters service, it will have a capacity to process around 30,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres a year with the possibility of doubling this at a later date. The facility’s aim is to help Western Australia manage the impact of Australia’s recently-introduced ban on waste tyre exports.
BKT Tyres, as well as Australian businesses Tradefaire International and Macmahon, have developed chain-ready underground mining tyres in what the three companies describe as a world first. The new OTR tyres will be launched in September 2022.
Although impacted by the rising cost of raw materials and logistics, off-highway tyre specialist BKT delivered a healthy profit in the financial year ending 31 March 2022. Profit after tax rose 22 per cent year-on-year to Rs 14.11 billion (£148.58 million) on the back of income that rose 47 per cent to Rs 84.19 billion (£886.52 million) and sales volumes that increased 27 per cent to 288,795 tonnes. EBITDA was, at Rs 21.82 billion (£229.76 million), up 21 per cent, with the margin contracting 5.6 percentage points to 25.9 per cent.
The organisers of Hillhead 2022, a frequent meeting point for OTR tyre suppliers, have signalled the start of the countdown to the 21-23 June event with a bang. Carried out by EPC-UK, two sections of the quarry face in the Demonstration area at the north end of the site were recently drilled and blasted to produce around 30,000 tonnes of run-of-quarry stone for equipment demonstration purposes at this year’s show.
Titan International, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Australian wheel business to OTR Tyres, a Western Australia-based tyre, wheel and service provider. It anticipates closing the deal on 31 March 2022.
Tyres are an essential part of mobility, but are their days numbered? One company believes that its new wheel technology can substitute the traditional rubber tyre used in mining applications and provide an alternative that is “eco-friendly, cost-effective, stronger and safer.”
