Michelin grows tyre contract with Huntapac Produce

Michelin has renewed a five-year tyre contract with one of the largest vegetable and salad producers in the UK. Preston-based Huntapac Produce signed the Effitires agreement following a competitive tender which pitched the manufacturer against rival brands. Michelin will continue to fit X Multi regional tyres across the firm’s fleet of more than 190 commercial vehicle assets, which includes 64 trucks, 62 refrigerated trailers, 55 bulk tipping trailers, three curtainsiders and two low loaders.

Sonic Rail Services fits new Michelin X Multi HD D

Sonic Rail Services (SRS) is one of the first operators in the country to enjoy the benefits of Michelin’s latest X Multi HD D tyres. The rail infrastructure business is trialling the 315/80 R22.5 fitments on its flagship Volvo FH16 750 tractor unit and plans to roll out the tyres across the remainder of its heavy fleet.

Michelin launches X Multi HD D regional tyre range

Michelin has launched the X Multi HD (heavy-duty) D (drive) tyre in 315/80 R22.5 and 315/70 R22.5 sizes, expanding its range of versatile application commercial vehicle tyres. The manufacturer states the new tyre targets solid bulk, agricultural, and specialist transport operators, including milk collection and animal feed delivery fleets. It is designed to be a robust tyre for versatile applications requiring a high mileage potential and traction.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service chooses Michelin tyre policy

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service will fit Michelin tyres across its 100 heavy fire appliances, in the service’s first major tyre policy change in 20-plus years. Its vehicles are used to respond to around 3,200 fires, 500 road traffic collisions and 500 other emergency incidents annually. The new tyre policy mirrors that operated by the two other Fire and Rescue Authorities in Wales. The Michelin X Multi Z all-position tyres will be supplied and fitted by Tructyre ATS, with a small amount of fitment work undertaken by the service’s own in-house workshops, on a predominantly 15-tonne Volvo truck fleet.

Michelin to display connected tyre solutions from RHA stand at CV Show

Michelin will exhibit its latest generation connected tyre technologies in a dedicated zone on the Road Haulage Association’s (RHA) stand at the Commercial Vehicle Show for the second successive year. The company will showcase two new wheel and tyre safety systems, designed and manufactured by Wheely-Safe, an official Michelin licensee, for fitment to vehicles regardless of tyre brand policy.

Michelin X Multi range grows with addition of drive sizes

Michelin’s new X Multi range of commercial vehicle tyres for regional and long haul transportation applications, launched in the UK earlier in 2017 at the CV Show, has been extended with the addition of two new drive sizes – 315/60R22.5 and 295/60R22.5. These X Multi D fitments are particularly targeted at car transporters and low-height 4×2 tractor units, on which they are popular sizes. The manufacturer took the opportunity of the extensions to the X Multi range to host Tyres & Accessories at its recently redeveloped research and development campus in Ladoux, just outside Clermont-Ferrand, introducing one of its latest joint ventures which has helped enhance the production process for the latest Michelin commercial and consumer tyres. It also demonstrated the X Multi range’s performance characteristics against competitors at its proving ground.

New generation of Michelin truck tyres to increase mileage ‘by 15-20%’

Michelin launched its new generation of truck tyres at the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Show in the UK and Ireland, stating that the new fitments deliver 15-20 per cent more mileage than the current Michelin X MultiWay 3D series, at no extra cost. The new X Multi tyre line-up has been designed to supply users with the lowest cost per kilometre and high levels of grip in all weather conditions throughout the life of the tread. Michelin has made the new tyres available immediately in four key fitments: 315/70R22.5 multi-position and drive tyres and 385/55R22.5 steer and trailer tyres. The range will be expanded with the launch of 295/60R22.5 and 315/60R22.5 X Multi D in September 2017 and then the 315/70R22.5 X Multi D Remix early in 2018.

Agricultural logistics co-operative signs Michelin solutions tyre management policy

The Openfield co-operative that helps harvest, store, and market crops for more than 3,500 farmers across the UK has appointed Michelin solutions to manage its tyres. The three-year, price-per-kilometre Effitires deal replaces a transactional agreement with a competing premium tyre brand, and covers Openfield’s 36 Scania and Volvo trucks, plus a mixed fleet of 46 bulk tipper trailers.

Michelin to show next-gen X Multi regional tyres at CV Show

Michelin will start the process of replacing its most popular heavy truck tyre range on the Birmingham HEC’s stand 5A45 with the international debut of the all-new X Multi tyre line-up at the CV Show. The manufacturer states that its tests show the next-generation delivers 15-20 per cent more mileage than the current Michelin X MultiWay 3D series. The tyre is designed to deliver the lowest cost per kilometre with grip in all weather conditions. The new tyres will initially be available from April in 315/70 R 22.5 all-position and drive fitments, alongside 385/55 R 22.5 steer and trailer tyres. Additional sizes will follow later this year.

Michelin expands regional commercial tyre accidental damage guarantee

Michelin has extended its accidental damage guarantee for regional tyres across the UK and Republic of Ireland (ROI) to a wider range of fitments. The company’s X Multi Guarantee now covers 37 tyre sizes, including Michelin’s most popular products on the replacement and original equipment markets. This marks an increase of 34 fitments from the previous scheme – and includes all X Multi and X MultiWay regional tyres, in all available sizes.

Michelin to showcase 17.5”, 19.5” tyres at CV Show

Michelin will present its largest ever display of 17.5” and 19.5” tyres at this year’s CV Show, following the roll-out of additional sizes and tread patterns in its X Multi range. Six of the new tyres will feature on Michelin’s 144m² stand in Hall 5, including three multi-position and three drive patterns – each safer, more fuel-efficient, quieter and longer-lasting than the ten year old XDE2s they replace. The new range is purpose-designed for small and medium trucks from 7.5 to 16 tonnes, as well as midi-coaches.
