The second generation Mercedes-Benz M-Class continues to set the standard, using a new tyre set up from Bridgestone that is said to offer a sportier ride without compromising high speed stability or on-the-road comfort.

A British supercar set an astonishing speed record in the heart of London by storming down an airport runway at 175.7mph on Saturday. The £317,500 Mercedes SLR McLaren supercar hit the top speed in a one mile speed challenge at London City Airport, a stone’s throw from ExCel, the venue for the British International Motor Show which was cleared of aircraft for the event.
At this year’s Reifen exhibition in Essen Goodyear showed all its new products and most of the highlights from the current product portfolio. The focal point of the presentations on the Goodyear stand were product novelties for the SUV segment but also tyres for the PC segment. However farm and OTR tyres were also shown as were forward-looking developments. In the truck tyre segment Goodyear presented its new RHS 2, which is a new specialist tyre for the steering axle.
DaimlerChrysler AG has specified Dunlop performance tyres for three all-new 2007 Mercedes-Benz luxury automobiles. Dunlop SP Sport 5000M 265/60R18 and optional SP Sport Maxx 275/55R19 ultra-performance tyres are specially designed for the Mercedes-Benz GL450, the car model’s first sport-utility vehicle. The 4.6-litre, 32-valve V-8-powered SUV generates 335 horsepower.

Japanese premium wheel brand, Kosei is to be exclusively marketed in the UK by Sherbrook International. The Kosei name will join the existing brands in Sherbrook’s portfolio, which includes Rondell, Outlaw and DJ. The Kosei brand will be available in sizes of up to 22 inches.

An Essex-based alloy wheels repair business is a polished act when it comes to keeping up appearances and it has just returned to Mercedes-Benz for a new fleet of vans. Wicked Wheels UK, of Toppesfield Road, Great Yeldham, Halstead, started life as a one-man operation with a Mercedes Sprinter van five years ago. As the company has expanded, so its fleet has grown. Today, Wicked Wheels operates more than 40 vehicles across 24 UK locations and has a turnover of nearly £3 million.
Pirelli is claiming that it has exhibited the most OE fitments at this year’s SEMA exhibtion. For example, one of the stars of the Ford exhibit was the Ford GTX1 roadster and to celebrate the introduction of this topless GT concept, both of the GTs on the stand were shod with 19-inch Pirelli P Zero Rossos. Varta is to introduce AGM technology to the aftermarket, with its premium range of Ultra Dynamic batteries. Varta is the European market leader in OE Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery technology, claiming a share in this sector of over 90 per cent.
AGM uses special micro-glass fibres in between the battery plates to fix the electrolyte. This increases the bonding of the active plate material between the plates and the electrolyte, which increases both the life span and the electrical performance of the battery, as well as making it spill proof.

Michelin Malaysia is aiming to increase its market share in the region by penetrating the original equipment market.Michelin Malaysia Sdn Bhd general manager Ronald Sutadja hopes Michelin’s strong carmakers such as Toyota Motor Corp and DaimlerChrysler AG, will support this strategy. Outside Malaysia Michelin is OE supplier for Toyota Camry and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, among others, he told the Malaysian Business Times
