MBE for FTA director

The Freight Transport Association’s Chris Welsh has been awarded the MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for services to shippers and the shipping industry. Welsh has played a leading role in the representation of UK freight shippers to the European Union and global organisations for over 30 years and in bringing shipper representatives together from across the world, giving voice to their collective concerns regarding the safe, efficient and sustainable movement of global freight.

Honour for SMMT’s Janet Wilkinson

SMMT’s communications manager, Janet Wilkinson, has been awarded an MBE for services to the Motor Industry and Charity in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for 2015. Wilkinson, who has spent virtually all her career at the SMMT, has been responsible for many of the activities and events the organisation runs to help promote the industry to media and other stakeholders. She has also mentored dozens of young people who have gone on to enjoy successful careers in the industry.
