Maxxis wins Mercedes-Benz Sprinter original equipment deal
Mercedes-Benz has signed a deal with Maxxis to supply its MCV3 van tyres as original equipment on the 5.0T and 3.88T variants of the Sprinter.

Maxxis says its MAS2 successor, the Victra Sport VS01, addresses the demands of high performance vehicle drivers, and opines it may prove to be one of its most significant product launches in years.
The entire VS01 range of summer tyres comes with a new asymmetric tread pattern and rim protector. Maxxis says sport performance is delivered through the tyre’s high-strength steel belts and high rigidity bead filler, while driver comfort has been aided by the use of finite element analysis to keep noise to a minimum.
For 2014, Maxxis International aims to make motorcycle tyre sales more rewarding than ever – and to accomplish this, it has revised its UK dealer pricing policy and made entry into its fully-supported ‘Elite Dealer Program’ even easier. By doing so, the company says dealers can benefit from lower trade prices and healthy profit margins, along with aggressive marketing and Maxxis’ rewards scheme.
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has extended its commitment to Maxxis by selecting the tyre maker as original equipment supplier to its new Freeride range. Maxxis also supplies its FIM approved MaxxEnduro to KTM’s EXC range of bikes.
The Australian Open has begun in Melbourne, and for the fourth year in a row Maxxis is on board as an official sponsor. It is also the ‘official tyre’ of the Australian Open. Under the terms of its sponsorship deal Maxxis signage is present in Rod Laver Arena (centre court), and the tyre maker is entitled to use the Australian Open logo in marketing materials and promotional activities.
At its recent annual conference, Maxxis International and UK distribution partner Stapleton’s (Tyre Services) Ltd announced the appointment of Alan Littlewood to the position of Maxxis brand manager. Maxxis International says Littlewood has taken on the role to help strengthen the Maxxis brand throughout the UK and to further develop the partnership between Maxxis, Stapleton’s and the Maxxis Key Dealer network.

Maxxis has announced its support for cancer charity Macmillan at the Autosport International show in January. The tyre manufacturer will host motorsport stars, racing cars and bikes, and its own Maxxis Babes team to pull in attendees at the Birmingham NEC. The company has targeted the figure of £500, which it hopes to exceed through calendar sales on the Saturday of the show.
Following the recent tragedy of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Maxxis International has set up a donation fund for its “Maxxis family” members from around the world to contribute to those in need.

While in a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange in October the Maxxis tyre brand manufacturer said it will invest NT$2.36 billion (£49.7 million) to build a plant in Indonesia in order to increase its ASEAN region presence, talk now is of investing £195 million.

Maxxis International has announced Priorslee Motor Services in Telford as its 2013 winner of the Maxxis Extra Mile competition. Priorslee Motor Services were chosen as this year’s ‘Wildcard’ winners after hosting a family open day in conjunction with Maxxis and in aid of Severn Hospice, which UK managing director, Derek McMartin described as “a brilliant way of promoting the Maxxis brand.”
It has been a good year for Maxxis’ parent company Cheng Shin Rubber, according Maxxis International UK managing director Derek McMartin. The fact that headcount is up more than 10 per cent to 30,000 and that the company has announced in the last year or so that it is investing in three new factories (Xiamen, Chongqing and Taiwan). The Taiwan project is said to have achieved phase one output of 27,000 tyres a day already, which will rise to 100,000 tyres a day a full capacity (phase four).
