Bosch appoints braking product specialist

Edmond Kelleher has joined Bosch Automotive Aftermarket as product specialist for braking systems following his predecessor Dominik Jedrzejak’s move to the position of Bosch product manager for wipers in Singapore. Kelleher brings with him a long list of automotive industry experience, including posts at Ford and Hyundai in Germany, in which his roles included working in product definition, product planning and customer relationship management. His role at Bosch involves responsibility for braking systems in the Automotive Aftermarket, including product management, marketing, cataloguing and pricing.

HiQ to switch to “nearly all” online promotion

HiQ will move “nearly all” of its promotion of the HiQ fast fit network away from traditional newspapers, radio and trade press to more online exposure, the network’s Wolverhampton PR agency Connect has revealed. The move follows the revamp of HiQ’s website for a new look and engagement strategy. Social media streams will be important to the brand’s new marketing strategy, with its website introducing a multi-media blogging channel from the end of March.

Hankook launches Europe-wide breakdown service

During January Hankook Tire Europe began rolling out its new truck breakdown service, "Hankook Road Assist 24h". Customers in three markets – Germany, France and Spain – initially benefit from the service’s launch, and Hankook says the service will be extended to fleets in other European countries in the short term. Hankook’s existing national truck breakdown services will be integrated into the new pan-European breakdown service. Fleet customers can utilise Hankook Road Assist 24h regardless of their current choice of tyre, Hankook adds.

Tyre24.fr debuts at Tire Expo

German-based tyre website Tyre24 recently launched Tyre24.fr SARL at the Pneu Expo 2012 Lyon (France) between 7 and 9 February 2012. Exhibiting from a 40 square metre stand, the French branch of the B2BPlattform which has been online since 2010, launched the latest offering into what is new territory for the company.

INF 200 at the centre of Infinity’s 4×4 offering

The INF 200, which features an off-road pattern, forms the centre of Infinity’s 4×4/SUV tyre range. According to the company, this model benefits from the application of Infinity’s EFFE Eco-Friendly Fuel Efficient (EFFE) manufacturing process into its off road and 4×4 range which in turn has led to the development of a “unique performance…tyre.” The latest news forms part of a wide strategy from Infinity to renew its UHP, 4×4 and van line-up. The products’ first collective appears is set to be at June’s Reifen 2012 show in Germany.

Bridgestone strengthens UK team

Bridgestone UK has strengthened its sales and marketing team with the announcement of new appointments within its consumer and commercial tyre operations. The new structure sees Brett Emerson and Greg Ward extend their current roles as UK consumer sales director and commercial sales director respectively into Ireland. Jackie Wherity, Ireland consumer sales manager, will support Brett Emerson with Greg Ward being supported by Ireland commercial sales manager Frank White.

British artists create exhibition from Cooper tyres

Four British artists chosen in partnership by Cooper Tire Europe and the UK’s leading art store, Castle Galleries, have created visual artworks starting with tyres as effective canvasses. Based on three themes relevant to Cooper Avon products and their motorsport heritage, the artists spent 257 man hours crafting the pieces, which will be displayed at Artica Galleries, South Molton Street, London until 17 February 2012.

Bridgestone offering free industry seminars at CV Show 2012

Bridgestone has announced plans to offer free industry seminars on “some of the hottest topics” on the company’s exhibition area at this year’s CV Show. For the first time, visitors can get advice, hints, tips and join the debate on wheel security (cost and consequences), the future of fuel efficiency and how to save money through improving tyre maintenance. The seminars will run daily during the show, which is being held at Birmingham’s NEC, 24-26 April.

Continental takes over ContiTread marketing from Marangoni

As of the second quarter of this year Continental will assume responsibility for the marketing of its ContiTread precure treads. Previously Italy’s Marangoni group didn’t just produce these treads for the German manufacturer, it was also in charge of marketing the brand in Europe. “We successfully introduced ContiTread precure treads into the European market in 2008 through a licensing agreement with Marangoni. As of April 2012 we will begin marketing ContiTread directly through our own marketing organisation,” explained Christian Sass, director Retread Business Commercial Vehicles Tires (CVT) Continental.
