Falken appoints new head of European marketing

Hankook Tire Europe appointed Antal Takacs as marketing director on 1 July 2015. In his new role, Takacs takes responsibility for European pricing, product marketing and distribution channel management.
Antal Takacs will focus on the further development of a pan-European pricing strategy and the reinforcement of Hankook’s Europe-wide marketing strategy. “Our current aim, is to optimise our pan-European marketing strategy, so that we meet our clients’ needs professionally and strengthen the brand awareness in all over Europe”, Hankook’s Head of Europe, Ho Youl Pae stated.

Giti Tire has appointed Richard Hutchins to the newly created position of senior product marketing manager – Europe for its Truck and Bus Division (TBR). The manufacturer said that Hutchins will be instrumental in new product developments and implementation of TBR tyres into OE and replacement markets. He will also contribute to product strategy, including technical, competitor, pricing and market analysis.
FC Barcelona ad Lassa Tyres have signed a sponsorship deal which makes the Turkish tyre brand a global partner for the next four years. Under the global partnership rights, the club’s basketball, handball, futsal and roller hockey teams, will officially be named as “FC Barcelona Lassa”. The deal took effect on 1 June 2015 and makes Lassa Tyres the “Official Tyre Partner” of FC Barcelona.
The marketing department at Bridgestone Europe is putting in overtime to assert the Firestone brand’s cool credentials. The company says Firestone plans to reassert its presence on the European market as a “dynamic, energetic and above all cool brand for the young and young at heart,” and these efforts include the brand’s sponsorship of music festivals in Spain, Germany, France, Poland, Italy and the UK The ‘Firestone Music Tour’ will be present at major festivals in these six countries during the summer.
In Nokian Tyres’ opinion, advertising within the tyre industry is often boring, and they may have a point. So the company decided to do something about this by arranging and filming a surprise for customers at one of its Vianor retail centres in Gothenburg, Sweden. Unsuspecting motorists arriving for tyre changes were treated to a ‘personal gig’ from Swedish heavy metal band Hammerfall, and the YouTube video of the event has been viewed almost 700,000 times within three days.
Following the rollout of similar facilities in South Korea, the US, Australia and the UK, Kumho Tire opened its first ‘Kumho Flagship Store’ in Italy on 20 March. As in the other markets, the Italian flagship centre scheme aims to reward and help dealers who focus on the Kumho brand. The first facility, at the Pneus2000 centre in Offanengo, Cremona province, was selected from within the tyre maker’s Kumho Platinum Club network in Italy and will be followed in the near future by other centres in main cities throughout the country.
Goodyear launched a new social media campaign to back up its “Made to Feel Good” slogan. The “My Feel Good Place” campaign is being run through Instagram, collecting images of people’s favourite spots from around the world and automatically generating an interactive map. Goodyear states that the initiative represents an expansion of its mission statement; the manufacturer wants to expand the meaning of its slogan from “giving people the experience of a comfortable journey to the experience of that next inspiring, familiar or even life-changing destination.” Instagram users can submit pictures to the platform tagging a photo with #MyFeelGoodPlace. Their shot may then be eligible to win a few prizes, including a grand prize of two Goodyear-sponsored around the world airline tickets.
