Sri Lanka capacity expansion aiding Marangoni’s industrial segment growth

Marangoni says it has achieved a strong position with its Industrial Tyre business in Europe and is growing in this segment in markets further afield. This growth has occurred due to a broadening of the company’s international presence and a rise in business with original equipment customers. To prepare itself for further growth, Marangoni says it has developed an expansion strategy, and states this planned expansion will further confirm its status as “one if the major players within the industrial tyre business.”

Marangoni focusing on Retreading Systems business at Reifen 2016

At this year’s Essen show, the Marangoni Group will focus on its primary core business, Retreading Systems, and also highlight its Ringtread system. The company says it will use its exhibition space (Hall 3, Stand 3C42) to “confirm the important role of high-quality retreaded truck tyres along the value chain of the transportation industry” and these products’ “environmental value.”

Marangoni outsources transport & distribution in Italy to CEVA

Retreading specialist Marangoni has selected CEVA Logistics to transport and distribute its industrial and commercial tyres throughout Italy. The three-year contract between Marangoni and the supply chain company will see CEVA collect tyres pre-selected by Marangoni for retreading, ship them to a Marangoni-owned warehouse near the company’s Rovereto retreading facility, and then distribute new and retreaded tyres to both retailers and distributors around the country.

Marangoni on-show at SITL 2016

Maragoni exhibited at SITL Europe 2016, one of the major transport and logistics exhibitions, which was held in Paris at the end of March. By doing so Marangoni once again confirmed its interest in the French market. Marangoni reports that it has “a leading position in sales and service in the sector of tyres for industrial handling equipment” through its subsidiary MIM, Marangoni Industrie Manutention.

Louzán SL to produce Marangoni Ringtread retread tyres in Spain

Marangoni Retreading Systems has announced a new partnership with Spanish retreading partner, Louzán SL. The Galicia-based company, which was formed in the 1940s, offers a range of services for fleets, including retreading, with ten sales outlets for extensive territorial coverage. Marangoni said the partnership reflects the “major changes” taking place in the retreading industry. While the future of the retread manufacturer’s Rovereto remains uncertain, Marangoni has moved to increase its global partnerships in various markets around the world. The company characterises its latest Spanish partnership as an “expansion” of its activities in the country.

Closures: Dark clouds over Marangoni’s Rovereto site

Dark clouds currently hang over Via del Garda in Rovereto, Italy. Around 290 workers at the Marangoni Group’s headquarters site have been on strike since yesterday, prompted by a decision taken by their representative union last Friday. The workers are fighting for the future of their jobs and fear for the future of their employer. According to local media, company CEO Massimo de Alessandri has described Marangoni’s situation as “increasingly difficult.” Many of those affected are questioning the company’s future and worry that Marangoni plans to lay off up to 50 per cent of the site’s workforce. Speaking with Tyres & Accessories, de Alessandri stated that such a reduction is a matter “of pure speculation” promoted by insecure workers and unions.

Marix retreads are “extremely competitive” against low-cost imports, says Marangoni

Europe’s retreaders face an ongoing battle against imports of low-priced new commercial vehicle tyres from China, and even well-known names such as Marangoni are not immune from the strain this puts upon turnover and margins. However the Marangoni Group states that it believes in both retreading and in the company’s own future growth, and has undertaken a number of measures to strengthen its position.

Marangoni selling Pneusmarket to Fintyre

Italy’s leading aftermarket tyre distributor, the Fintyre Group, has reached an agreement to acquire the Pneusmarket network from the Marangoni Group. This transaction marks Fintyre’s entry into the tyre retail business.

GRP joint venture brings Marangoni’s Ringtread system to India

Marangoni S.p.A. has provided additional details about the recently-announced commercial vehicle tyre retreading joint venture it has commenced with Indian rubber recycling company GRP Ltd. According to the Italian retreading specialist, the aim of the joint venture is to “establish a pan-Indian network of tyre retreaders able to spread the quality of the Marangoni system to commercial vehicle fleets.”

Marangoni, GRP form Indian retreading joint venture

Indian reclaimed rubber producer GRP Ltd has announced its entry into a joint venture agreement with Marangoni S.p.A. The two partners will contribute a total of Rs 20,000,000 (£198,000) to the project; GRP says it will draw upon the Italian retreading specialist’s technical knowledge in order to commence the retreading of pre-cure retreading of commercial vehicle radials within India, and the company also expects the joint venture will strengthen its raw material collection network.

Spiniella appointed Cooper Tire Europe business development director

Cooper Tire Europe has appointed Mirco Spiniella as its new business development director. Spiniella will be responsible for the implementation of Cooper’s sales and marketing strategy, with a focus on business intelligence and key account management in the German, Swiss, Spanish and French markets. Marangoni appoints Avril general manager for French subsidiary

Marangoni Industrial Tyres has appointed Patrick Avril as general manager of its French subsidiary, Marangoni Industries Manutention, based in Louvres, near Paris. The company said the appointment confirms the Marangoni Group’s interest in the French market and further strengthens its presence in an area where, thanks to the subsidiary, it has a leading position in the sale and service of tyres for industrial handling equipment. New Marangoni partner on the Canary Islands
