(Akron/Tire Review) Marangoni Tread North America (MTNA) has added A to Z Tire in Amarillo, Texas, to its network of Ringtread plants. A to Z Tyre is a fourth-generation, family-owned commercial tyre dealership with 21 locations in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Montana. In 1999, A to Z Tire installed its first Ringtread system in its San Antonio location and began servicing the south, central and north Texas markets.
With the Marangoni/Group Tyre (UK) Ltd marketing partnership now firmly in place, details of a new retailer support package have been revealed. Building on the ‘Intelligent’ theme of the 2006 Marangoni/Group Tyre marketing campaign, key dealers will be known as ‘Intelligence Centres’ and strongly branded with prominent exterior signage and themed point-of-sale material.
(Akron/Tire Review) Marangoni Tread North America said it has completed expansion at its Nashville, Tennessee, tread rubber plant, effectively doubling capacity at the facility.
Marco Mandrioli, will assume responsibility for Marangoni Retreading Systems and Materials sales and marketing in Europe, Middle East and Africa effective 1 February 2006. Marco Mandrioli, joined the Marangoni Group after 11 years of experience in marketing and product management at Olivetti and six years as marketing director of the Passini Group. In his new position Mandrioli will coordinate and oversee both Marangoni Tread and Ellerbrock commercial activities in Europe and will assume the position of managing director sales and marketing for the German subsidiary of the Italian Group.
The latest marketing campaign for Marangoni tyres rivals those of front line manufacturers, says Group Tyre (UK), distributor of the brand. A series of teaser adverts have appeared under the headline ‘are you intelligent?’ featuring stereotypically intelligent professionals such as a lawyer, doctor, astronaut, inventor and scientist. These teasers appear as a tease and reveal combo, with the final, reveal ad; ‘The Intelligent Tyre Retailer’ who recommends Marangoni, because of the tyre’s performance.
Marangoni is to launch its own range of self-supporting run-flat tyres at the Essen show next year. The run-flat line will be based on a completely new product, rather than incorporating run-flat capabilities into an existing tyre, Tyres & Accessories has learnt. At first the tyre will only be available in a limited range of perhaps four or five of the most common sizes.
Throughout October and November Marangoni has been running a series of introductory road-shows designed to launch the brand to all of its member companies. The response to the brand launch and subsequent enthusiasm surrounding the brand promotion plans has exceeded expectations, according to Group Tyre’s Karl Naylor: “The reaction has been amazing – the strength and cohesion of the Group Tyre network was never in doubt – but neither we nor Marangoni anticipated such levels of enthusiasm and interest in the brand. This is an excellent indicator for our plans to build Marangoni into one of the key mid-sector brands in the UK tyre market.”
Mario Apolloni has been appointed as head of group communications, a move that became effective on 1 October 2005. According to the tyre, retread and retreading systems manufacturer, this new department was created in order to strengthen the image of the business on an international level. It will be my task to oversee all the press communications of all the different Marangoni divisions, Mario Apolloni said in a press statement, adding “I am confident that we will continue to co-operate in this important new area with friendliness and efficiency.”
Group Tyre (UK) Ltd is to exclusively distribute Marangoni passenger car and light truck tyres in the UK mainland. “The move will allow Group Tyre to offer the independent sector a European manufactured product with premium brand quality but offering better value for money,” the wholesale operation said in an official statement.
“The addition of the Marangoni brand to our portfolio illustrates our commitment to offer our customers a full range of quality brands. We believe that we can develop Marangoni in the UK market to emulate the success it has achieved in the rest of Europe, and that Marangoni will contribute to our continued success in the independent sector,” commented Group Tyre chairman, John Church.
Marangoni Tyre has launched a new tyre series aimed at the European ultra high performance market. The new Mythos range will combine “leading-edge technology” with “experience acquired in motor racing” to make a Y-rated road tyre, the Italian manufacturer explains. Marangoni even goes as far as describing the new tyre as the “jewel in its crown.”
Currently 30 per cent of the European replacement tyre market is made up of tyres approved for speeds of 240 km/h and higher. With this percentage expected to increase, Marangoni’s efforts to produce a UHP tyre are seen as a response to these developing market conditions. The manufacturer puts it another way: “This new product is the synthesis of the know-how and experience acquired by Marangoni over many years of research, races and tests in the most extreme conditions.”

(Southern Africa/SA Treads) It’s official. Speculation surrounding the possible arrival of Marangoni Ringtread in South Africa (SA) was put to rest earlier this month, with the announcement that Leader Tread had secured the agency for this concept and that the first Ringtread machine would reach SA in the Spring.
To complement Ringtread’s innovative, splice-free retread, Leader Tread will also be bringing in a Marangoni ITT Cubo 2500 inspection machine, voted one of the best of its kind in the world.
Marangoni Tyre has recently revised and updated its range of winter tyres. In the March issue of Tyres & Accessories, an article featured the company’s latest offering, the Meteo HP; a T-, H- and V-rated winter tyre for rims up to 18” and aspect ratios as low as 40 series. The Meteo HP is designed to cater for the growing demand for high performance tyres that work well in winter conditions.

(Akron/Tire Review) Marangoni Tread North America has named retreading industry veteran Donald Rizzi as its new national sales manager.
Prior to joining Marangoni, Rizzi was regional manager for Goodyear’s retread systems business, regional manager for Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems, and a Six Sigma project manager for Goodyear. Through his career, Rizzi held sales management positions with Long Mile Rubber Co., Oliver Rubber Co. and Ultima Rubber Products.
“We are very pleased that Don has joined us,” said Bill Sweatman, Marangoni Tread North America president. “Our business continues to grow at a rapid rate and Don will not only help us to keep that momentum going but will improve our representation and service to our valued customers, our independent dealer network.”
