Marangoni Supplies New Hill Climb Tyres

More power requires different tyres. After winning three Italian hillclimb titles (2004, 2006 and 2007) and one European championship (2005) in this speciality with 2000 cc Osella cars and Marangoni Zeta Linea tyres, Simone Faggioli’s team were looking to go the next level.

“With the adoption of the 3000 cc engine, the horsepower almost doubled, from 250 to 450 HP”, Simone Faggioli explained. “We needed tyres that had to be completely different in terms of size, compound and casing. Once again, the Marangoni racing department responded enthusiastically, providing the support we needed to work on a completely new project.”

Marangoni Supplies Tyres for First Tuned Alfa Mito

Marrangoni Tyre is supply red rubber for the first tuned Alfa Mito, on display at the forthcoming Essen Motor Show (27 November to 7 December 2008). It’s called the M430, however the reason for the name has, for now, been kept secret. Following the success of the Fiat 500, Marangoni is aiming to demonstrate its interest in tuning very shortly after the release of the production vehicle (on 12 September).

Marangoni Adds to Winter Tyre Range

Winter tyres, says Marangoni, have come a long way from the days when they were merely “snow tyres” with very deep treads to help rid the grooves of snow and ice. The Italian manufacturer believes this evolution has above all occurred due to the development of compounds that guarantee better grip at low temperatures. To this end, Marangoni has recently developed its SPE (Solid Particles Encapsulation) technology, which improves performance by encapsulating billions of sodium-based microcrystals in the compound; these microcrystals separate in a controlled manner to create microscopic holes that accommodate the snow, improving grip, traction and control under braking and acceleration.

Marangoni Flash-Powered Website Launched

Marangoni has launched a new, flash animated website, which the company hopes will raise the bar in online customer interaction within the tyre industry. Company representatives call the site much more than a factual information resource, and that it is lively, exciting, involving and simple to navigate.

“The role of the new website in the Marangoni marketing mix has never been more important,” says Derek Carruthers – global sales & marketing director, Marangoni Car Tyre. “Too many sites simply don’t relate to the customer and, as a result, they are ineffective. With our new site we prioritised what we know our customers want and have created and designed it accordingly. It is our direct communication with our customers, and their link directly to Marangoni, through a uniquely fun interactive format”

The user-friendly interactive site allows the visitor access the information they need quickly, giving them more time to view additional fun resources. This involvement acts to reinforce the brand messages Marangoni represent, direct to the consumer in a relaxed manner.

Looking back on its year in motorsport, Marangoni reflects that racing has oftentimes given the company opportunities to push forward commercial and technological developments in a competitive forum. From the toughest of endurance racing, through specialist events and one-make championships, to the mountain hill climbs of Italy, Marangoni rubber has again taken a number of podiums.

Strategic Partnership Beneficial to Both Marangoni & Fedi Gomme

Reifen China, unlike the long-established Reifen show in Essen, Germany, is an annual event. Therefore, a sequel to the show’s successful 2007 debut is already due. Between December 4 and 6, 2008, the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) will again be filled with the aroma of the round objects and the buzz of deals being made. Tyres & Accessories plans to be there, and we’ll be far from lonely…

Marangoni Group Upgrading its Ellerbrock Facility Following Fire

Marangoni reports that the compound department at the Group’s Ellerbrock GmbH operation near Hamburg, Germany will be rebuilt using advanced technology following the extensive damage incurred during last Easter’s fire. In a press release, the Italian based retreader states that following an initial analysis performed by the management of Ellerbrock and Marangoni Holding, it “became clear that the use of modern equipment and the most recent mixing technology will allow an even better response to the increasing demand for high performance compounds for retreading.”

Marangoni Signs Multi-Year Contract With Brazil’s SL Group

One of South America’s leading truck tyre retreaders, Renovadora de Pneus SL, has switched over to Marangoni. At the end of August, following several months of negotiations, Marangoni Do Brasil stipulated a multi-year supply contract with the São Paulo based group.

The SL Group, founded in 1996, is a major player in the truck tyre retreading business, operating four large retreading plants located in the main cities of São Paulo state. The group employs 140 people and operates a large fleet, with more than thirty service and support vehicles – thus the company can be considered one of the largest retreaders in Brazil and the whole of South America.

Marangoni Extends Its British Profile

Italian manufacturer Marangoni has ramped up its efforts in increasing its profile in recent weeks. After the highly successful Summer show and event programme – which endeavoured to bring the brand to the forefront of the performance and tuning market – the British International Motorshow provided an opportunity to take the firm’s self-styled ‘Marangoni Brand Experience’ to the record crowds that gathered at Excel in London. The company believes that its name carries the promise of European heritage, all-round performance and value, hoping that this triumvirate of riches resonates strongly with drivers of both performance and everyday cars.

Headlining the Marangoni presence at the British International Motorshow, and very much the draw on the Santa Pod Raceway stand, was the mighty Progetto Marangoni Toyota Yaris; an attraction that has been popular with British crowds all year. With the car on public display for a full week and contrasting with other show exhibits, the company was delighted with the response of motorists. Marangoni report a “huge number of requests for information on the Marangoni product, with visitors clamoring for information and the right Marangoni tyre choice for their cars.” The palpable hit scored by the Yaris helped to further establish Marangoni as a widely-recognised tyre brand amongst the show’s knowledgeable and discerning audience.

Nathan Freke Wins Drag Race on Maragoni Tyres

2006 Formula Ford Champion and Indy Lights Racing competitor Nathan Freke who recently successfully completed the Nürburgring 24 Hours in a Marangoni Fiat 500, added yet more success for the Italian tyre manufacturer in the Ten of the Best at Elvington Airfield. Ten of the Best is a unique speed event where all competitor vehicles have to be road legal with MOT, Insurance and Tax. In his self-prepared Toyota MR2 Turbo fitted with Marangoni Zeta Linea tyres he followed his 2007 European best time in the Mile Drag section with another dominant Class win of 10.84 seconds@ 129mph.

The only rear wheel drive car in the Top 20, Nathan posted the 12th fastest time overall against 4-wheel drive competition, netting a haul of: Fastest RWD time, Fastest RWD Turbo car and Fastest Japanese RWD in addition to his RWD Drag Race Shootout Championship. Putting his Marangoni Zeta Linea tyres against the opposition in the Standing Kilometre, Nathan and the MR2 posted 7th overall across all classes, finishing with a run of 169.9mph in 20.36 seconds.

Marangoni’s Meteo HPs “Shrug off Winter’s Worst”

Marangoni is urging retailers to plan their winter stock requirements as soon as possible in order to be best prepared for the upcoming season. While the company regards the concept of cold weather tyres as relatively new to the UK market, it still believes that the difference they can make to Winter driving is huge, in terms of control, precision and ultimate safety; all features the company banks upon when attempting to entice new British market customers to make the change come November. Indeed, the company believes that “manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers alike, all have a duty to educate the UK marketplace to the importance of fitting the correct tyres for winter driving conditions… It can be the vital difference between getting home and being stranded.”

Marangoni itself offers, the Meteo HP for UK drivers, which comes in sizes to fit family saloons, performance cars and more recently SUVs, bringing a greater degree safety in the most hazardous driving conditions of the year.

British Drift Championship driver, Chris Bradbury is now sponsored by Marangoni for 2008.
