Brazilian retreaders União and Toro have installed a Vipal Rubber-developed casing buffing system. The VR01 Smart DUO, a dual position buffer, was installed at União Tire Retreading in São Paulo retreader in April. Soon after, another partner of the Vipal Authorized Network Deatler had installed a single position variant at its Toro Recauchutagem operation in Rio de Janeiro.
Machinery manufacturer VMI says it is increasingly active in South America, and in response VMI South America Ltda has moved to a new and larger location. On 12 May, VMI South America opened its new facility in the Brazilian city of Itatiaia, approximately half way between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Managing director Robson Souza de Araujo and his team now have approximately 1,350 square metres of floorspace at their disposal, an area divided into workshop and office space.
Beumer Group, a global supplier of automated material handling systems, is giving the first live demonstration of its Tire Tray System at Tire Technology Expo 2017 Hannover, Germany, from 14-16 February.
A ‘Dream Factory’ solution for end-to-end automated materials handling will be installed in the Giti Tire passenger car tyre plant now under construction in the USA. Cimcorp reports that it and parent company Murata Machinery (Muratec) will supply a complete turnkey system that includes all required automation equipment and offers total system control, project management and seamless integration. The automated handling systems will be delivered and installed in three stages during 2017 and 2019.

South Korean tyre industry machinery manufacturer Saehwa IMC is supplying PJSC Rosava the equipment needed to begin the production of 17-inch passenger car tyres. The Ukrainian tyre maker says it is currently working to modernise its production and has invested in the equipment and tooling needed for the manufacture of this rim diameter size.
In April Kobe Steel, Ltd. will open a company in China to sell tyre and rubber machinery and provide after-sales service. Kobelco Machinery System Engineering Qingdao Co., Ltd. (or KMQ), based in Qingdao, Shangdong Province will supply rubber mixers, twin screw roller head extruders and tyre testing machines used in the manufacture of tyres for cars, construction equipment and other rubber products. Kobe Steel has invested 2 million yuan (about 40 million yen; £216,000) in KMQ.
