Manbat Batteries, the UK’s largest battery distributor, has launched its revamped website, which hopes to provide users with more information and greater ease-of-use. As well as the customary information regarding Manbat’s trading history and locations, the website provides the latest news, developments and products for the trade and consumer alike.
Manbat has opted not to go through with the acquisition of Energy Batteries Ltd after a period of due diligence. On 1 October 2008 Manbat Ltd entered into an agreement with Energy Batteries Ltd to look into the possibility of Manbat Ltd acquiring Energy Batteries Ltd. However, according to an official statement, “it has become apparent to the directors of Manbat Ltd that it would not be in the interests of Manbat Ltd to continue with the acquisition.”
The sales team at Manbat Batteries has been further strengthened with the appointment Martin McGreevy as the national sales manager for UK and Eire. Coming to Manbat after two years with Jiffy Packaging, where he was the national accounts manager for packaging and packaging systems, McGreevy brings with him 20 years of aftermarket experience – 15 years of which have been in senior sales management positions.
Heading up the entire sales team, the new national sales manager’s role will include guiding the team and helping Manbat customers increase battery sales, handling the key national accounts and developing the business into new markets, something Manbat views as an existing core strength.
Manbat Batteries Ltd has announced a major restructuring of its Shrewsbury based senior management team. As a planned action during the second of Manbat’s five year rolling business planning, long-term managing director Roger Pemberton has moved to become the executive chairman, making way for Steve Sheppard to move from his position of sales director and take the reins as Manbat’s managing director.
Manbat Batteries Ltd is introducing a new range of AC-DC accessories. No, not a compilation CD or concert tickets – the leading UK battery specialist has boosted its line up with the addition of power inverters. Launched to coincide with the International Caravan & Motorhome 2008 at NEC in October, the Numax ‘connect and convert’ power inverter line-up is a four-model range of ‘Modified’ and ‘Pure Sine Wave’ (PSW) inverters.
Manbat has strengthened its sales team by recruiting Jason Walton as the sales manager for the North West region, including Leeds and Barrow-in-Furness. Operating out of the Manchester branch, Walton has already immersed himself into the business and has seamlessly taken on the Manbat philosophy of working proactively with its customers in a traditional partnership.
Commenting on his appointment Jason said: “Although I have only been with the company for a short while, I really feel at home. Being a family business, the company ethics are noticeably different and it’s a real pleasure to be part of a well respected and market leading business.”
Leading independent UK battery distributor Manbat has named Amanda Tomlinson as the company’s new Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Manager. The appointment was made after Manbat took the decision to formalise the management of its internal procedures, and the company reports bringing in an experienced figure like Tomlinson is key to meeting that objective.
Tomlinson was most recently employed by LSUK where she was an integral member of its procedures management team. Her experience in monitoring the performance of a multi-branch business network was key to her being recruited by Manbat. “Amanda brings a wealth of valuable experience to Manbat at just the right time,” explained Manbat Project Manager, Myles Pemberton. “As a company that has grown considerably during the last few years, we have been keen to formalise our systems and procedures to guarantee they are given the time that they deserve.”
According to Aftermarket Show 2008’s organiers, early indications show that the number of trade visitors attending the NEC-based event from January 10-13 reached an all-time high this year. Haymarket Exhibitions – organisers of the event that runs alongside Autosport International – says the final breakdown of figures will be available shortly. “We’ve seen a definite increase in the number of trade visitors across the entire show and we’re expecting that to be positive news in terms of the numbers of factors, retailers and installers that came to The Aftermarket Show section over the four days,” said project manager Steve Coombes.
Varta Automotive Batteries has made changes to its product distribution, extending its agreement with major supply partner Manbat Ltd. The new distribution arrangements for both Varta and Freedom branded batteries have been introduced to provide improved levels of service to Varta’s network of more than 150 independent agents and support the long-term co-operation with Manbat. Critical to the new arrangement was the agreement of automotive buying group Group Auto Union in accepting Varta and Manbat as joint suppliers.
Manbat, the UK’s largest battery distributor, has launched its new Battery Specification and Application Guide for its Numax brand. The 78-page publication covers essential information on the supply, sale and handling of batteries and is divided into 20 relevant sections.
Manbat has become an approved supplier of batteries to automotive buying group Group Auto Union (UK). As part of the agreement, the company, the UK’s largest battery distributor, will offer GAU distributors the high profile Numax and Varta brands of batteries, which both offer 99 per cent coverage of UK car parc.
GAU recognised Manbat for its excellent sales support package, which encompasses high quality cataloguing, point of sale, extensive availability and range of product.
