MAM Encourages Customers To 'Go Green'

MAM Software has embarked on a new push to promote paperless invoices, credits and statements, reminding its customers that they can "go green" by signing up to receive paperless accounts correspondence. Customers have the option of cutting paperwork by receiving electronic versions of invoices, credit notes and statements directly into their e-mail inbox. The documents, which are sent in Acrobat PDF format as e-mail attachments, are formatted just like their printed counterparts and can be easily read on screen.

Livingston Autoparts Opens Parts e-shop

Livingston Autoparts, one of the largest independent distributors of motor components in Scotland, has launched a new e-shop to support its expansion into retail parts and accessories sales. The new website features over 400,000 products including spare parts, accessories, car care, consumables and tools. Customers are able to browse categories with full-colour photographs or use the integrated VRM catalogue to identify products. The e-shop is open 24/7, and customers can place secure orders using credit cards or PayPal for next day delivery.

Latest Autocat Release

MAM Software Ltd. has released Autocat+ v6.0, the latest version of its electronic all-makes parts catalogue, which introduces over 30 enhancements to improve lookup speed and accuracy. In this latest version, users can quickly and easily access previous searches to speed up repeat lookups. As well as remembering which product groups were searched for a given registration number, Autocat+ v6.0 also records the actual part numbers that were transferred to point-of-sale.

Milestone For MAM

MAM Software Ltd has reported a marked increase in the use of its Autonet Online business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, with over 1500 end-user connections now active nationwide. Autonet Online is an off-the-shelf parts ordering portal that enables distributors and wholesalers to sell products online to their trade customers. It includes an electronic catalogue with VRM for easy parts identification, real-time pricing and availability, and a comprehensive account enquiry facility.

Tyrespot Picks MAM

Tyrespot Ltd. is now using its Autopart management software to control its multi-branch tyre wholesale and retail autocentre operations. Tyrespot is a long established, well respected name among UK tyre independents. It is one of the country's leading regional distribution companies, with ten locations across northeast England. Its wholesale operation supplies tyres from a stock of over 60,000 as well as batteries and exhausts, via an express delivery service.

Get Ready for More VAT Changes

VAT-registered businesses are being urged to get ready now for major changes to VAT return filing and payment coming next April. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has sent a leaflet to all 1.9 million VAT-registered businesses to alert them to the fact that, from 1 April 2010, those with an annual turnover of £100,000 or more (excluding VAT) will have to file their VAT returns online and pay their VAT electronically. Under the changes, businesses registering for VAT on or after 1 April 2010 will also have to file their return online and pay electronically, whatever their turnover.

MAM Urges VAT Planning

MAM Software Ltd. is advising businesses to begin planning now for the impending change in VAT rate. The VAT rate will return to 17.5 per cent on 1 January 2010, but MAM Software is recommending companies make their preparations before they close for the Christmas break. "Businesses should begin planning as soon as possible" explained Robin Darnell, Director of Support Services at MAM Software. "A lack of preparation will hinder the changeover. Much like Christmas shopping, the later you leave it, the busier it gets and the more stressful it becomes. If businesses plan now, they will have ample time to ask questions and understand the processes involved." MAM Says No To 0870

In response to customer feedback, and in light of recent Ofcom announcements, MAM Software has decided to replace all of its 0870 phone numbers with standard geographic numbers. “Following Ofcom’s recent announcement regarding changes to non-geographic numbers, we took the opportunity to review and improve our customer contact strategy.” explained Robin Darnell, MAM’s Director of Support Services. “In order to offer our customers better value, we decided against implementing the new 0871 or 0844 numbers and have instead reverted back to standard 01226 phone numbers.”

Motaquip Picks MAM To Replace Paper Catalogues

Motaquip, one of the leading aftermarket parts suppliers in the UK, is to use MAM Software’s latest electronic parts cataloguing solutions in a bid to reduce its reliance on paper parts manuals. As well as recommending Autocat+ to its customers, Motaquip will use MAM’s new Catalogue Data Tool (CDT) to maintain the Motaquip product data that Autocat+ holds.

Motaquip currently produces 54,000 paper catalogues a year, spread over eighteen product categories. MAM Aids IFA

MAM Software is helping members of the Independent Motor Factors Association (IFA) share valuable product knowledge through its Autocat+ electronic parts catalogue. This facility, which is currently being used by fourteen members, enables individual businesses to create product notes for any product or application and share them with other members through the catalogue.

The Autocat+ notes facility allows comments to be recorded against any part number, product group or application that appears in the catalogue. These are stored in a central database and, once approved, made available to all members within the group. The comments will appear automatically whenever the trigger part number, group or application is used.

MAM To Introduce EDIWHEEL E-Commerce Functionality

MAM Software has announced the forthcoming release of its 'Autonet Ediwheel Buyer (AEB)' e-commerce solution. When launched in April, AEB will enable users of MAM's Autopart software to retrieve real-time stock availability from any Ediwheel-enabled supplier. In addition, users can place immediate purchase orders and receive real-time line-level acknowledgements.

Ediwheel is a new and commonly agreed e-commerce protocol, developed by the major tyre manufacturers to communicate on a business-to-business basis with their trade customers. By conforming to Ediwheel, MAM's AEB will be compatible with any major European tyre manufacturer and tyre importer that has adopted this standard.
