A table ranking corporate reputation published by Fortune magazine has named Alcoa jointly the most-admired metals company in the world with ArcelorMittal, the European integrated steel and mining company. The wheel manufacturer received top ranking in sustainability and innovation, which its representatives say is testament to Alcoa’s ongoing leadership in two areas that are key to the success of Alcoa’s business; customers and communities.
Dunlop claims to be the largest supplier of original equipment and replacement market motorcycle tyres in the US, and to cater to this important market the company has launched an all-new website. The dunlopmotorcycle.com site is designed specifically for the American market and its content includes racing news and insider views, tyre technology insights, videos, tips, care and maintenance information, a tyre fitment guide and tyre catalogue, a special section for Dunlop Download Magazine, plus a gallery of free downloadable wallpaper images covering race bikes, customs and more.
A beta version of the Michelin Restaurants website has gone live, and the French company welcomes the involvement of online users and restaurant operators in finalising the site. Michelin explains that the http://restaurant.michelin.fr site – at present the Michelin Restaurants concept only covers France – offers a multi-criteria search engine that allows users to choose a restaurant corresponding to their desires and budget.
Brembo has won hat-trick of prizes in German motoring magazines. With German motorists being known for their high standards, Brembo is keen to point out it success with magazines: Motorrad, Auto Motor und Sport and Auto Bild.
Infinity Tyres has announced that the company will publish a self-titled lifestyle magazine in a bid to communicate the multifaceted nature of the brand. According to the company, Infinity likes to think of itself as more than just a tyre brand.
The January 2012 issue of Practical Performance Car magazine ranks Varta in first place in the publication’s car battery product test. The company’s Silver Dynamic product topped the test and the Blue Dynamic battery was “recommended” in joint second place. This follows the “Best Buy” Award from Car Mechanics magazine in 2011 for the Silver Dynamic battery.
Nokian claims a pair of tyre test victories for its summer products; the Nokian Z G2 scored a win in the German Volkswagen and Audi specialist magazine “Gute Fahrt”, while the Nokian H took top honours in the “Auto Zeitung”, which is also published in Germany.
Consumer voting for the 2012 Motor Codes Garage of the Year opened today (Friday 24 February) with a four-page special published in The Sun. The award has changed slightly in 2012, with the addition of award categories reflecting large and small garages. Motor Codes has also gained support from a headline competition sponsor, Havoline.
During the last year Toyo Tires held onto the title of fastest ‘SUV in the world’ using the Proxes S/T’s on SPORTEC’s modified Porsche Cayenne Turbo at Germany’s high speed Oval course, the ATP. The Proxes S/T range was specifically selected for its ability to deliver a powerful combination of superb handling, confident performance and smooth assured stability. And according to the Japanese tyre manufacture, this is just one example of how Toyo Tires recognises that not all off road vehicles are driven by off-road enthusiasts. It also helps to explain why the company offers a range of tyres to suit all 4x4s.
The Japanese trading company behind both Kwik-Fit and Stapleton’s here in the UK (Itochu) sold Reifen Gundlach (Raubach) to Dutch group Pon effective 1 January 2012. In a news article published at reifenpresse.de last month, Gundlach CEO Gebhard Jansen confirmed the news to Tyres & Accessories' sister magazine Neue Reifenzeitung by phone. No further details of the transaction have yet been made public.
Kumho recently introduced the Solus KL21 all-season tyre for on-road use as a way of extending the company refers to as its range for all seasons. Available in top-selling sizes such as 235/65 R17 and 235/60 R18, this street terrain tyre is designed to deliver wet traction combined with low noise and rolling resistance. The KL21 is extensively fitted by Hyundai and Kia to their latest SUV models and has recently been approved for fitment to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Firestone has presented its sponsored Farming Personality of 2011 Award, to celebrity farmer, Adam Henson for his services to the industry. The prize, awarded in conjunction with Farm Business Magazine, was awarded to Henson at a ceremony at the House of Commons. Firestone and Farm Business said the star of BBC1’s Countryfile as a result of the work he has done to bridge the gap from 'farm to fork', in addition to his passion for farming.
