Global dealers visit Linglong Tire’s European plant
In early August, Linglong Tire hosted a visit to its new factory in Zrenjanin, Serbia, for approximately 130 dealers from the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific regions. During the visit, Linglong Tire signed long-term cooperation agreements with 16 strategic partners, establishing a framework for closer future collaboration.
OE tyres for China’s top selling cars
Some 1.6 million passenger cars were sold in China in July 2024, and for the first time the number of new energy vehicles sold surpassed sales of combustion vehicles. The top ten selling cars accounted for around 230,000 units, and local association the Car and Wheel Shop Owners Alliance provides information about the tyres these popular models wear as original equipment. Linglong is a reoccurring name, with six of the ten best-selling models available with Linglong OE tyres.
Best & most powerful – Linglong Tire presents latest winter tyre
In the brief time since its launch, the Linglong Grip Master Winter range has grown to 70 sizes, with dimensions available for 14- to 20-inch rim diameters, cross-sections of 35 to 75 and tread widths of 165 to 315 mm in the speed ranges T, H, V and W. Furthermore, Linglong Tire intends to introduce an additional 30 sizes next year.
Linglong continues VfL Wolfsburg partnership in 2024/25 Bundesliga season
Linglong TireLinglong Tire will continue its sponsorship deal with the Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg, starting with the club’s 2024/25 season-opening cup match at TuS Koblenz. VfL Wolfsburg are famously supported by Primary Partner Volkswagen, Europe’s largest automaker, out of whose sports club the team developed – one of the reasons the club is particularly attracting to the globalising Chinese tyre manufacturer, which is one of the club’s “Top-Partners”. In addition to the men’s team, Linglong will support the women’s team of VfL Wolfsburg, reigning German Cup winners.
Linglong expanding Serbia tyre factory
Linglong is investing $645 million (about £506 million; 591 million) in order to expand the company’s Serbian tyre capacity, build a photovoltaic power station and even add a retreading and recycling wing. According to our Chinese-language sister site, the expansion project is scheduled to start in January 2025 and be completed and put into use at the end of December 2030.
Linglong introduces LXL Traction & LXF Master series
Linglong Specialty Tires has debuted two new tyres, the LXL Traction and LXF Master. LXL Traction is intended for loader and dozer applications and features an optimised pattern that ensures excellent all-terrain grip and a non-directional design for simplified installation. LXF Master is a sand tyre series designed for sandy and soft terrains, featuring staggered tread blocks that offer high mobility and heavy load capabilities at low inflation pressures.
Serbia factory helps Linglong increase net profit
Linglong expects that in the first half of 2024, after deducting non-recurring gains and losses, the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company will be 840 million to 990 million yuan. This figure has significantly increased compared with 499 million yuan in 2023.
Top Chinese Tyremakers: Manufacturers ranked by tyre production capacity in 2023
In 2023, Linglong’s various factories had a production capacity of 91.34 million tyres. Including the production of PCR products at the Serbian factory, in 2025 the tyre manufacturer’s annual production capacity will likely exceed 100 million tyres. Linglong’s tyre production base in Zhaoyuan, Shandong, has an astonishing production capacity of 36.1 million sets, including 30 million PCR, 5.85 million TBR, and 250,000 OTR tyres. The Dezhou base in Shandong has capacity for 9 million PCR and 3.2 million TBR tyres a year. The Guangxi production base can make 11 million PCR (1 million more than the designed capacity), 2 million TBR, and 140,000 OTR annually. The Hubei production base has capacity for the construction of 9 million PCR and 2.4 million TBR tyres. That opeartion’s designed PCR capacity is 12 million, and further under-construction capacity is expected to be completed in 2024. The Jilin production base can make 1.5 million PCR and 1 million TBR tyres. The company said that the capacity of the Jilin factory’s PCR production lines is expected to reach 6 million tyres a year in 2024. The company’s planned two production bases in Shaanxi and Anhui have not yet released their production capacity in 2023. The Thailand factory has 13 million PCR and 2.2 million TBR among overseas factories. Linglong said that its Thailand factory reduced its PCR production capacity by 2 million in 2023. The Serbian factory achieved a production capacity of 800,000 TBR tyres in 2023, and the designed scale of 1.6 million tyres is expected to be completed in 2024.
Overseas business supports sales of Chinese listed companies in 2023
In 2023, the overseas market has become essential for Chinese-listed tyre companies to increase revenue and profits. According to statistics from Tyrepress China, the overseas revenue of Sentury, Sailun, Jiangsu General, Prinx Chengshan, Triangle, and Doublestar in 2023 was higher than revenue in the Chinese domestic market. Aeolus, Linglong, and Guizhou Tyre have higher domestic market revenue.
Linglong’s Serbia tyre factory certified by well-known OEMs
In recent months, Linglong Serbia tyre factory has been certified by car manufacturers including: Nissan, Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, Stellantis group, Hyundai and Kia as well as the truck manufacturer MAN and approved for the production of original equipment tyres – an essential prerequisite for the production of tyres specified for delivery to automobile manufacturers.
Brand Finance: Michelin still top, but Giti now 9th and Chinese tyremakers fastest risers
The latest Brand Finance data shows that Michelin is “the world’s most valuable and strongest tyre brand” followed by Bridgestone in second and with Continental rounding off the podium. However, Far Eastern brand value is rocketing, with Giti the fastest-growing tyre brand in the ranking, following a 19 per cent brand value increase. Similarly, Sailun, Linglong Tire and Sentury Tire accelerates off the back of an overseas demand surge.
Rock stars – Linglong talking OTR tyres at TTC
Alongside its on-road consumer and commercial portfolio, at The Tire Cologne, Linglong Tire will highlight two tyres for rigid dump trucks. OTR specialists from Linglong’s European team will also be present at the show, at the company’s 350 square metre exhibition space at Hall 7, Stand D040 – E049.
Linglong appoints Xu Yongchao as vice president
On 15 May Chinese tyre manufacturer Linglong decided to appoint Xu Yongchao as vice president. The reason given by the tyre manufacturer was to “further enhance the company’s core competitiveness and combine it with the company’s business development needs,” but the company did not specify which particular part of the business the newly promoted executive would be responsible for.
