When the Lexus LC500 coupé and its hybrid twin the LC500h reach consumers next year, they will be fitted two Bridgestone tyre models as standard. Bridgestone Corporation reports it has designed Potenza S001L RFT and Turanza T005 RFT run-flat tyres exclusively for the Lexus coupés.
Lexus has introduced its Lexus UX concept car, fitted with Goodyear Urban Crossover concept tyres, at the Paris Motor Show 2016. The car is matched with special tyres, showcasing the cooperation between the two companies.
This year’s National Franchised Dealers Association Summer 2016 survey, published today, had 1,746 respondents from a total participating dealer network of 4,090, which equates to a response rate of 43 per cent. Bridgestone has confirmed that its Dueler H/L 33 tyres are being fitted as original equipment on the Lexus NX. According to the manufacturer, the tyres are “engineered with low rolling resistance [and] will play a key role in the vehicle’s ability to deliver impressive handling, stability and fuel efficiency.” The latest news comes as part of a continued strategy of targeting SUV OE, according to the official announcement.
The Lexus NX has now been launched in Japan and it will be introduced in other markets in the coming months, reaching the UK in October. Bridgestone says its tyres have been homologated as an original equipment fitment for the crossover SUV; the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 33 will be fitted to the Lexus NX200ｔand NX300h in both the Japanese and other global markets. Lexus will receive the tyre in 225/60R18 100H for markets that include Japan, Europe, Australia and China, and in size 235/55R18 100V for markets that include Japan, Europe, Australia, North America and South Korea.
The Lexus Group has selected Yokohama tyres as original equipment for its new crossover SUV, the Lexus NX. Exact fitments will vary according to region, however worldwide the tyre maker is supplying two models of tyre in a total of three sizes. The Yokohama tyres selected for the Lexus NX are the BluEarth E51 in size 225/60R18 100H and the Geolandar G91 in sizes 225/60R18 100H and 225/65R17 102H.
Alutec has launched a new SUV wheel design with load-bearing in mind. According to the company the Alutec W 10 aluminium alloy features a particularly high wheel load of up to 1,025 kilograms. In addition the wheels is designed to be “technically sophisticated”, featuring a 5-V right up to the 20-inch size. According to the company, the e-commerce initiative gives UK customers a new way to source the parts they need, with confidence that they are purchasing the genuine article, direct from Toyota’s central distribution centre in Lutterworth. Yokohama Rubber reports that original equipment supply of its BluEarth E51 has begun for the latest Lexus IS sport saloon models. The latest Lexus IS is a completely new model, and a hybrid version – the IS300h – has also been added to the line-up. The BluEarth E51 is being fitted to the Lexus IS in size 225/45R17 91W.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has launched a new addition to its performance winter tyre range, the WeatherMaster WSC – which stands for winter and snow confidence. The tyre’s directional tread design and high-silica polymer, low-modulus tread compound are designed to provide increased grip on icy, slushy and wet surfaces. It is launched in sizes suitable for SUVs and some passenger cars, including the BMW X3, Lexus RX350/450, Mazda 3 and 5, Toyota Rav-4 and Nissan Murano.
Johnson Controls has released a new battery aimed at the replacement market and particularly at Japanese and Korean compact cars. The Blue Dynamic has been developed specifically with models such as the Honda Jazz and Hyundai Atos in mind, according to the company. More than 20% (250,000 cars) of those model types across the EU are registered in the UK.
