The Nokian eNTYRE all-season tyre, first released late last year, is now available to customers in the UK through mytyres.co.uk. The online retailer reports it has secured UK exclusivity for the range and is targeting the eNTYRE at motorists who want a tyre that can be used all year round but seek additional limited snow performance.
The newest member of Audi’s RS family is the 4.2 litre, V8 powered RS 5 coupé, a vehicle capable of producing 450hp. Toyo reports it has supplied its Proxes T1 AO tyre as OE since the launch of the RS 5 earlier this year. The Proxes T1 AO is already fitted as original equipment to the Audi S6; a size 265/35 R 19 98Y tyre is being supplied to the RS 5.
Chicago Pneumatic (CP) has introduced a new two year guarantee on what it says are some of the market’s favourite tools. The move doubles the warranty period on the company’s original “Classic” range of tools. This new Classic range is a collection of all the well known vehicle service tools in the CP range that customers regard as essential to their business and forms the initial part of the company’s complete redesign of its entire product portfolio in due course.
Included in this Classic collection are tools such as the CP734H half inch impact wrench which features Dyna-Pact oil bath clutch and one-handed push button forward/reverse with four positive power settings to deliver a smooth operation and extreme durability.
A new brand of passenger car tyres is set to be introduced to the market with an initial offering of two products in 35 sizes. Luccini Tyres are to be produced by a Far-Eastern manufacturer using European technology with 50 years experience in tyre production and design. Having spent the last year researching and developing, the team behind the brand is ready to launch the Buono Sport – a non-directional tread design for wet performance and noise reduction – and the Buono Drive – an asymmetric pattern designed for draining efficiency, ride comfort and durability.
Industrial finishing equipment manufacturer Guyson International has launched a new Wheelmaster product for use in applications such as smart repairs. “This is the ideal machine either as a brand new installation into ‘smart’ repair centres or auto body shops looking to offer a value added customer service by bringing the process back in house from subcontractors or indeed as a replacement for old, poorly performing blast units,” company representatives explained in a launch statement.
Bridgestone’s Battlax BT-023 tyre has been voted “the best sports-touring all-rounder” by Bike magazine six months after its launch. Bike, Britain’s best-selling motorcycle magazine, fitted sport-touring tyres from many leading manufacturers to its fleet of bikes and compared them, with Bridgestone coming out on top.
Maxxis’ MA-Z1 Drift tyre has been on show this month in the third and fourth rounds of the British Drift Championship that also bears the brand’s name as title sponsor. The company said the tyre has delivered consistent performance in the changeable weather it has encountered. Through a day of alternating torrential showers and bright sunshine the MA-Z1 Drift’s performance at Lydden Hill, Kent, during round three helped Team Japspeed driver Shane Lynch take victory and with it the championship lead in the pro class. After round four, last year’s European Drift Champion Mark Luney stormed into the lead.
In North America Michelin is gearing up to launch a new Uniroyal winter tyre, the Tiger Paw Ice & Snow II. Scheduled for release on August 1, the new passenger car range will be available in 29 sizes, nine of which are Tiger Paw Ice & Snow I designs previously only available in Canada. Michelin describes the Tiger Paw Ice & Snow II as a tyre “provides both durability and reliability for driving in severe winter conditions at an affordable price.”
Bridgestone is preparing to launch its first all weather tyre, the A001, in Northern Europe ahead of the coming winter season. This new tyre, the company says, is intended to meet the safety and performance demands of the region’s fast changing weather conditions.
Cooper Tire & Rubber has released its latest North American market winter tyre. Called the Weather-Master WSC (Winter and Snow Confidence), Cooper says the new tyre represents the "next generation of tyres designed to deliver superior winter performance." The manufacturer says the Weather-Master WSC's was developed for drivers of newer SUVs, CUVs, smaller pickups and some passenger car applications looking for improved traction on slushy and snow-covered winter roads.It adds that the tyre's directional design, combined with a high silica tread compound, is ideally suited for the toughest winter conditions. The range is initially offered in ten T-rated sizes for 17 and 18-inch diameter rim sizes.
ViaMichelin, French tyremaker’s Michelin’s online mapping service, has launched a mobile application offering real-time UK traffic information, free of charge to iPhone owners. The announcement follows the launch of the Michelin guide iPhone app series. Optimised for iPhone 3G handsets but equally compatible with first generation iPhones, the app is simple to use and also enables users to access ViaMichelin maps directly from their handsets.

Starting 9 July, consumers with smart phones can see the recently introduced Michelin Primacy MXM4 in action, reports Tire Review. The mobile phone scan option is part of Michelin North America’s promotion effort behind the launch of the new premium segment tyre. MNA said consumers can download the free code reader app at upcode.mobi. The luxury touring tyre is now available in 12 market sizes covering 16- to 19-inch wheel diameters. The tyre carries a 55,000-mile warranty for H/V speed rated sizes and a 45,000-mile warranty for W-rated sizes.
