Lassa tyres have been on sale for a quarter of a century. The company first had to tell people who it was and get the brand name known. Since then, Lassa’s strategy has changed. Gündüz Akin, Lassa’s European Sales & Marketing Director, explains where the company has come from, and where it is going.

Goodyear Spain has reached an agreement with Neumaticos JM Martinez which will assist the tyre distributor switch core business from distribution to manufacturing. JM Martinez is to cease distribution of Marshal and Lassa and will concentrate on selling Goodyear brands. The Spanish press speculate that this may open the door to a Goodyear takeover of JM Martinez.
The UK newspaper Financial Times has published its annual list of the world’s 500 largest companies, ranked by market capitalisation. The only tyre company to appear last year was Bridgestone, at number 300. The company does not make this year’s global top 500. Among Europe’s top 500 are the following tyre companies, with their positions. Michelin (301) Pirelli (242) and Continental (479). Mention should be made too of Sabanci Holdings, the ultimate parent of Lassa/Brisa, which appears at number 331 in Europe.
The Turkish tyre manufacturer Lassa is introducing a new 4×4 tyre to the market. The product, called “Competus,” has been designed for on-road and off-road use and will perform well even under extreme terrain conditions. The Competus will be available in nine sizes covering aspect ratios from 80 to 65. The first sizes will be available in early summer and the complete range at the beginning of autumn.
