The latest Kraiburg Austria tread design programme is now available. The retreading specialist has optimised its product range again this year in response to broad customer demand. It says it has streamlined its core range to cater more precisely to the needs of the retreaders, and this has resulted in the discontinuation of some tread lengths and the addition of others.
As of 1 March, Alessandro Bottesini Campos is Kraiburg Austria’s new sales manager for the Spanish retreading market. Based in Valencia, Campos brings with him years of experience gained with Brazilian retreading materials manufacturer Vipal; he was responsible for the brand’s introduction into the European market.
Kraiburg Austria has subjected seven more winter patterns to a 3PMSF test in order to enhance the competitiveness of truck retreads. Now the “3PMSF” (Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake) tyre symbol is linked under ECE-109 R Annex 10 to retreads, this measurement is said to say “far more than the classic “M+S” based on classifications devised by the manufacturers” about a retread’s winter performance.
Kraiburg Group is mourning the passing of highly esteemed shareholder Peter Schmidt. From 1954 to 1999 he participated actively in the company’s operations and as a member of the management board he implemented numerous decisions that shaped the company’s history.
European fleets are gearing up for the changeover to winter tyres – and Kraiburg Austria is catering to this by offering its partners a new city bus design, the K702 plus. The drive axle pattern’s design, says Kraiburg, lends itself to outstanding traction and braking characteristics. These qualities are particularly noticeable in extreme climiatic conditions, such as on snow-covered or wet road surfaces. The use of the premium K_plus compound delivers high mileage, even levels of wear and lower operating temperatures. The use of an irregular tread design also ensures that noise development is reduced.
This year Kraiburg Austria is adopting the “retread into the future” theme at Reifen, Essen from 24 to 27 May. In other words, on the company’s show stand, everything will revolve around the performance of its retreads and how they are comparable with new tyres.
Kraiburg has announced the sudden passing of “friend and former colleague” Helmut Ehmann. Ehmann died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday 28 October 2015 at the age of 74 due to “the debilitating effects following a critical illness”.
Following on from the second Kraiburg summit, Kraiburg Austria invited its Czech and Slovakian customers to a workshop at the end of September in Cerna Hora in the Czech Republic. During the even the retreading specialist shared its stance on various “pro-retread” campaigns and gave a status report on the ReTyre project, explaining the background behind the impending tyre labelling.
Kraiburg Austria has updated its pattern programme to include the K701 “winter specialist” and the results are now available. The 2015/2016 issue is laid out in the usual way in that the patterns are listed in ascending number order. The division into groups depending on applications does not feature in the print version but customers who are interested in this version can still download it from the Internet.
The Tire Cologne – the Koelnmesse organised rival exhibition to Messe Essen’s Reifen series, commencing in 2018 – has fired the starting pistol in its registration phase. The exhibition, which will take place in Cologne at the same time as Reifen 2018 in Essen (29 May to 1 June 2018), will feature important tyre and wheel business players from across the industry.
Kraiburg Austria has revealed plans to invest 4 million euros mainly in upgrading its buffing machinery this year. The retreading specialist says the aim is “to maintain quality at the highest possible level and to keep the production processes as flexible and as efficient as possible”.
Kraiburg Austria changed its outer envelope range to the new Kraiburg LD series as of January 2015. LD stands for Long Durability, which equates to long life. According to the company, the outer envelopes offer easy vacuum drawing and handling during the process of enveloping and are “decisive in addition to the lifetime for the retreaders”.
The time since Reifen 2014 can still be measured in weeks, but even now, Messe Essen reports that it has already firmly rented out around 60 per cent of the area in 2014 for Reifen 2016 on 24–27 May, 2016. The more than 150 exhibitors which have already registered include the following manufacturers (amongst others): Alligator, Giti Tire, Kraiburg, Kumho Tyre, Infinity Tyres, Marangoni, VMI and Yokohama. Moreover, the trading companies Bohnenkamp and Reiff have confirmed their participation in the world’s leading trade fair for the tyre sector.
Marcus Knoth has become the new Kraiburg Austria sales manager for UK and Ireland, effective July. Knoth started working for Kraiburg in March 2011 in the company’s tyre compounds business division. Since September 2012, he commenced working in the retreading sector as sales manager for several South East European and Scandinavian markets.
It’s been half a century since the founding of leading retreading materials provider Kraiburg Austria. At a celebration marking 50 years in the business in early June, the Geretsberg, Austria-based company looked back upon a “colourful and varied history.” It’s a history that wouldn’t have been such a successful one had the company not enjoyed the continued and full support of founding and owner family Schmidt and the entire workforce at the Geretsberg site. Fifty years of Kraiburg Austria – it is a success story with a bright future, and at the company’s golden jubilee celebration this was shared with around 100 political, business, industry and media representatives.
