Klarius, the manufacturer of aftermarket emissions products including exhausts, CATs and Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) has confirmed that fitting aftermarket systems will not affect the efficiency or emissions of VW vehicles in the wake of what has been called the ‘diesel dupe’ scandal where an emissions test software ‘cheat’ was allegedly fitted to over 11million VW Group vehicles in order to meet strict US NOx test regulations.
Bremen, Germany automotive parts distributor Schmettau & Fuchs has been working with Klarius for the last 12 months to supply its emissions products across the north west of Germany. The German aftermarket’s requirements acknowledge the country’s reputation for high quality automotive production, making it an attractive proposition for the British manufacturer as a supplier of a wide range of high quality exhausts and emissions parts.
Klarius has unveiled a type-approved aftermarket exhaust system for the Toyota Prius. The manufacturer said the new product signals the company’s commitment to expanding its green product range, and transferring expertise and experience in regular car exhausts to move with a market transitioning to more green motoring.
On the back of a recent ruling by the Supreme Court that requires the UK government to take action on air pollution in several major cities, the UK’s largest vehicle emission control component manufacturer Klarius has revealed plans to increase the manufacturing volumes of its pollution reducing diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and catalytic converters (CATs).
Not only that, Klarius has increased its schedule of new-to-range introductions to include far more cars and light commercial vehicles in the near future. Essentially aimed at older cars that produce a higher level of pollution, it’s thought that the ability to ensure all UK replacement emission components meet high quality and performance standards will make a significant contribution to the Government’s task of meeting new stricter pollution reduction targets.
Klarius’ R&D department has had a busy start to 2015, with “more than 100” new part numbers to be introduced by the end of March. The new list of parts covers over 170 applications, including new exhaust system components, CATs, DPFs and accessories. Klarius stated that it has responded to customer requests for replacement emission control parts new to the company’s range.
UK exhaust and emission control products manufacturer Klarius has recruited a fluent German speaker to help develop its business in Europe. Thinusa Thilagarajan (22) was born and brought up in Oberhausen, Germany and has just graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Warwick.
The New Year has begun at Klarius with the reintroduction of a large portion of the company’s extensive catalytic converter range. The list of part numbers covers around 70 per cent of the company’s most popular products, all manufactured in the UK and fully type-approved. In the motorsport industry high speed is the norm, both on and off the track. When a Mosler MT900R race car run by Staffordshire University Race Team suffered damage to the rear chassis and exhaust system, a replacement OEM exhaust could not be supplied in time for the next race. After the initial setback the team approached the Klarius R&D department to see if it could help. They were amazed to discover that Klarius could design, manufacture and test a bespoke system, ready for delivery, in under 24 hours.
Klarius has announced an increase in its stock of exhausts required to solve a suspected design issue with Peugeot 207s manufactured during early 2008. The problem, highlighted again by a recent TecRMI report, is with the rear silencer and generally presents as excess noise from the rear of the car, particularly with the 1.4 models.

LG Distribution based in Nancy and Toulouse supplies the majority of the Klarius emission control exhaust product range from stock in France. Over 2,000 parts references are available covering 95 per cent of market demand for replacement exhausts, plus, associated mountings and fitting kits.
Lennart Pluim and Giles Petitot are co-founders of the company and both have huge experience in the French automotive aftermarket. Giles is a business owner who has worked in the automotive aftermarket distribution business for close to 30 years and Lennart has over 20 years experience managing national auto parts distribution.
