Klarius has launched a new web-based parts directory that catalogues every component the company supplies, all of which can be searched via a standard web browser. Quicker searches and comparative drawings promise to make the process of identifying both individual exhaust components and complete systems faster and more convenient than ever.
Klarius Products Ltd has added an additional 48 components to its emissions control range. New components cover applications across the automotive spectrum, incorporating old and new models. New parts now available include DPFs for the Ford Transit 2.4TDCi, exhaust muffler boxes with centre pipes for the Fiat 500, combined CAT and DPF units for the BMW 3, 5 and 6 series, plus tailpipes for the Nissan Navara 2.5DCi.
Klarius designs replacement emissions systems based on demand cycles and the ageing of vehicles, so new exhausts can often be developed for discontinued cars. Luckily for the loyal owner of a Saab 9-5 Aero Estate, Klarius had indeed developed a complete replacement emissions system. Independent Klarius approved garage Bewdley Autos took care of the work and it resulted in a very happy customer.
When specifying a replacement aftermarket exhaust, ensuring that the vehicle’s efficiency, performance and MOT compliance are preserved is a primary concern. With this in mind, Doug Bentley, head of product development at UK aftermarket exhaust manufacturer Klarius, has issued a number of pointers about what makes a quality aftermarket exhaust.
Klarius Products has expanded its range with more than 100 new exhausts, catalytic converters (CATs), diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and accessories. The latest new-to-range list details every component released by Klarius during Q2 2017, which bolsters its 10,000-plus product range to support an ever-larger range of vehicles. The UK based manufacturer of aftermarket emissions components has an in-house R&D centre, enabling it to update its product range “on a daily basis,” it states.
Recent assessments of air quality in British cities have brought the issue of emissions generated by road vehicles back under the spotlight. With major manufacturers and individual motorists potentially contributing to the problem, it raises the question, what steps can the aftermarket industry and motorists take to improve the environmental credentials of the petrol and diesel vehicles on British roads?

The new products highlight the company’s commitment to servicing the full range of consumer aftermarket segments, incorporating saloons, hatchbacks, commercial vans, SUVs, people carriers, luxury cars and superminis of varying age. Ultimately, the MOT test is there to protect motorists, other road users and the environment. With the news that the UK Government is considering extending the date of first MOT from three to four years, questions on whether this will damage the overall effectiveness of the test with regards emissions components are inevitable. Especially when figures show that as many as one in five cars fail their first MOT.
The UK’s largest manufacturer of aftermarket emissions components, Klarius Products, has become one of the first businesses in the UK to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality systems. The new standard replaces ISO 9001:2008 as of September 2018, with companies required to attain the new standard before this date to ensure compliancy.
As a business, maintaining a legislatively compliant fleet of commercial vehicles is the cornerstone of a successful logistics operation. Type-approval is the automotive EU directive that governs this compliance across the continent and partially, the UK. Type-approval is especially important for emissions components that are installed on a vehicle, guaranteeing product quality, performance and compliant levels of emissions. However, the introduction of on-the-spot checks for vehicle compliance in Europe over the next few years highlights a deficiency in UK type-approval legislation, which presents a risk to businesses whose vehicles are not fully type-approved.
