Nokian Tyres’ Visitor Centre in Spain awarded green certification for sustainability

The solar-powered Visitor Centre Building at Nokian Tyres’ Spain Test Centre has earned LEED v4 Platinum certification – the highest LEED certification level – for green building leadership. Nokian Tyres’ 300-hectare Test Centre is situated in Santa Cruz de la Zarza, a small town about one hour’s drive south of Madrid. The Test Centre includes 10 test tracks and the Visitor Centre. Inspectors highlighted the Visitor Centre’s innovation in design, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality as key drivers of the high certification level.

Popular Science award for Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9

Every year for the past three decades, Popular Science has reviewed the latest innovations and recognised the pick of the bunch in its Best of What’s New awards. In 2017, the world’s largest science and technology magazine has selected the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 as an awardee. The studded tyre is one of 100 winners honoured in 11 categories.

Nokian Tyres utilising “unique stud technology” on latest winter range

The next generation of Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded winter tyres will come to market in time for winter 2017-18. Nokian writes that these new flagship products, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 car tyre and Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV ranges, feature new stud technology.

Nokian, Bridgestone amongst this year’s TTI Awards honourees

According to a panel of 27 judges, Bridgestone Corporation is this year’s Tire Manufacturer of the Year. The company was named victor in this Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2016 category at a gala dinner in Hanover, Germany last night. The winners of four other category awards and a lifetime achievement award were also announced.
