The organisers of the Campionato Italiano Velocità (CIV) have selected Dunlop as the exclusive tyre supplier for the championship’s flagship Superbike category, in a deal spanning the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The arrangement was announced during a pre-season presentation at the MotorBikeExpo and makes Dunlop sole tyre supplier for three of CIV’s five categories, as the brand is already the tyre partner to the Italian platform’s Moto3 and Pre-Moto3 classes.
Megaride Applied Vehicle Research has acquired tyre wear and integrity monitoring systems developed by Wriggle. The purchase continues Megaride’s recent expansion of technical know-how in the tyre technology sphere. No details relating to the nature of the investment associated with the acquisition have been released.
The President of Italy has received a delegation from Pirelli, headed by executive vice-president and chief executive officer Marco Tronchetti Provera, to mark the company’s upcoming 150th anniversary. Tronchetti Provera described the meeting with President Mattarella as a “great honour” for him and the Pirelli contingent.
The Marangoni Group has return to the specialist tyre retail business – a sector it excited roughly three years ago. As reported by our Italian sister company PneusNews.it, the group best known for its extensive retreading heritage, recently took over the company La Genovese gomme (LGg). The tyre retail chain runs five locations in Sardinia (specifically Sassari, Oristano, Olbia, Macomer and Elmas) and together with the production of retreaded tyres to support them. LGg also makes retreads at its Elmas locations “using the best possible materials”.

The Board of Directors of Brembo S.p.A. has named Matteo Tiraboschi, currently executive deputy chairman, preferred candidate to become its chairman following the resignation of Alberto Bombassei. AC Milan and Nexen Tire have announced a new partnership that will see the South Korean brand become the football club’s new tyre partner in the Italian market. The announcement follows a positive season for the ‘Rossoneri’, which saw AC Milan secure a second-place finish in the top-flight Serie A championship and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Giandomenico Basso beat Italian rally champion Andrea Crugnola and Hungary’s Norbert Herczig to make an all-Pirelli podium at the Rally di Roma Capitale. During the pandemic year 2020, connected and intelligent car solutions reached a value of 1.8 billion euros.
