A Northamptonshire man who ran illegal waste sites has been given a 12-month suspended prison sentence. He received this sentence last Friday following action taken by the Environment Agency relating to illegal tyre storage.
Nankang Tyre UK has warned consumers to avoid what it calls “illegal grey compound tyres.” According to the company, an unspecified number of Nankang-branded car and SUV tyres that were “produced for a theatre show” and designed solely for low-speed use on wooden flooring have entered the UK market and are being offered for sale. It stresses that these tyres were not imported by Nankang Tyre UK and are thus not covered by any type of warranty. They are not approved for use on UK roads.
Pictures of de-mounted tyres removed from cars at Micheldever retail businesses look more like scrap than tyres taken of road-going vehicles two weeks ago. And this has made some company representatives suggest that the problem of illegal wear is worse than ever.
